Improve Rialto Configuration visibility and editing access for the Rialto Administrator role
Currently Rialto is a ‘black box’ for a great deal of configuration which is controlled by Ex Libris and only visible to Ex Libris. For many settings, customers do not even have Read access, let alone Edit access. This issue is compounded by extremely minimal documentation on Rialto administration that configuration settings even exist at all and the options for them.
This leads to situations we have experienced where we began ordering physical titles through Rialto and were incorrectly billed in the wrong currency. And another where our EDI was not functioning as expected, due to invisible misconfiguration. And another where new providers were added incorrectly and we had to go back to Support repeatedly for corrections. And another where our Access Notification emails setting was set up incorrectly as “One email daily per provider”, which was advised as the default configuration, going against our setup request.
While the above situations could all be argued as just mistakes by Support and hopefully they have resolved to improve their procedures and actions on behalf of customers, this does not resolve the ongoing underlying problem that library staff waste a great deal of time trying to troubleshoot with no visibility of the settings responsible. Additional time is also unnecessarily wasted for requesting configuration changes that surely Rialto Administrators could be trusted to perform, such as provider collection mapping and notification frequency changes.
In sum, the current state is that we have no way to know the basic foundation for our Rialto environment without being forced to contact Support and guess about why we might be having unexpected outcomes. This situation severely hampers both day to day workflows for staff confused about behaviours and spending time coming up with theories, and Administrator troubleshooting attempts and case writing made more difficult when it’s not even known the setting likely responsible.
This enhancement requests for all Rialto configuration at minimum to be visible in Alma > Market configuration in Read Only mode for the Rialto Administrator role. Ideally, Ex Libris will also review Rialto Configuration for Edit level access possibility, and allow Rialto Administrators to adjust settings for themselves where it is deemed safe to do so.

Thank you for your suggestion. The Rialto team is reviewing this idea to determine how it might fit into our future plans. We cannot provide a timeline for these ideas, but be sure to check back often and vote for the ideas you support to receive status and comment updates.

Absolutely agreed, Stacey! We also experienced several mistakes in configuration from Support that took weeks to sort out because we didn't have oversight of the configuration. It's not a productive use of Ex Libris's time and not a good experience for the customer.
