  1. Add additional Rapido indicator option of ‘Yes – manually assigned’

It is not easy to report on borrowing requests supplied by Rapido partners. We initially thought that Rapido indicator could be used but Ex Libris clarified that Rapido indicator = yes means that a request has been sent automatically to a Rapido partner. If a Rapido partner has been added manually, the Rapido indicator changes to no (the borrowing requests Analytics knowledge centre page has since been updated to clarify this).

Although it is useful to know how many requests were sent automatically i.e. without staff intervention, we want to report accurately on requests supplied by Rapido libraries to justify…

  2. Borrowing mediation rule to consider Item Policy/TOUs

Rapido currently considers a title available for request if it is part of a configured participating set.

When a borrowing mediation rule is configured with parameter ownership + availability, borrowing requests are intercepted if the IZ owns the title and that its related item is available. The problem is that requests are intercepted even when items do not have a loanable policy in the IZ in question (e.g. on-site use only). Indeed, the availability parameter of the rule considers "item in place", and not the presence of an item in any of the Rapido participating sets.

    We would like the…

The January 2025 Rapido release allows libraries to define participating items for the fill locally workflow. https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Rapido/Release_Notes/2025/Rapido_2025_Release_Notes?mon=202501BASE

  3. Temporary location gets deleted after a Rapido process

If an item is in a temporary location before a Rapido loan, at the moment of the return, the previous temporary location gets not restored but the item is put back to the standard location.
We would like that when returning an item under a Rapido loan, the previous temporary location is set back, instead of the standard one.

  4. Send messages to any partner directly from request

We would like to send messages to any partner directly from a request. Currently, this is not possible with RapidILL/RapidR or email partners.

  5. Notifications for RapidILL communication failures

It should be immediately clear if a Rapid request is not updated - not just in an “update failed” note on the request itself, which the Rapido user is no longer looking at by the time the Rapid communication error occurs. One way this could be achieved is by allowing Rapido users to opt into popup notifications that display and have to be closed whenever there's a communication issue with Rapid. We are potentially open to other approaches for addressing this issue as well as long as they provide an obvious notification every time a Rapid communication issue occurs.

  6. Add “Conditional” to RapidILL

Sometimes libraries need to communicate things to each other that aren’t citation issues. For instance, if a library has an HTML version of an article instead of a PDF with page numbers or a different edition of a book than the one listed in the request, that library might want to ask the borrower if that’s an okay version for the patron. Right now the only way to communicate between libraries is through Bad Citation, and that doesn’t allow libraries to respond to such queries. Adding a “Conditional” status that allows libraries to ask and answer questions that aren’t citation…

  7. Record all request metadata changes in History tab

When we change a field in a request, that change should always be tracked in the History tab. For example, we occasionally have to change one of the standard identifiers (OCLC, ISBN, ISSN) in a request in order to match it to potential lenders. Saving that information in the History tab would allow us to check a) what the original requestor provided and b) what we’ve already tried using.

  8. Add search by lender

Sometimes we want to view all requests that have been sent to a particular lender. Examples of times we’d like to do this are if we’re troubleshooting something, or if the request is in a language with non-Roman characters and it’s easier to search by lender than it is to search by title. While it’s possible to narrow down requests by lender using the facet, we have many lenders and the way their names are listed is not always standard (i.e. University of California - Berkeley vs. The University of Hong Kong). It would be much easier to just search…

  9. Make requests in status “expired” act like any other request with the same list of actions

Requests that have ended up with the status and “expired” end up in the “closed” sets, but we still need to work with them. We don’t want the request to be cancelled and the patron to be notified automatically because there still might be something we can do with them. We might find an additional email partner to send one of these requests to that the system doesn’t know about, we might find a better ISBN or OCLC number to send it out on, or we might find that the request is the wrong type and we need to change…

  10. Rapido to parse all volume formats for multivolume works

Currently, when requesting volumes of multivolume works, the Rapido tile can only parse the following volume formats from the item description:

    "3" (digits only)
    "v.3" (no space)
    "v. 3" (with space)

This affects the Refine Offer function: if the patron inputs a string that Rapido cannot parse (for example, "XII", "Jan", "Bd. 3" as written in the item description), it disregards that volume information. This usually gives a positive result (terms are displayed disregarding the volume's availability), places the request on title level (whole multivolume work) without linking the wanted volume (item) to the Rapido request. In such…

  11. Automatically populate requester email address if empty for lending digital requests

If the Requester Email field is empty on a digital request, Rapido doesn’t prevent the item from being shipped. We would like Rapido to provide a pop-up message to prevent the item from being shipped if the requester email field is empty. The pop-up message would provide the option for the staff to choose the preferred email address on the partner record or enter a different email address.

The September 2024 release adds an alert to the request and pop up note during shipping action to support staff knowledge of the lack of email address. Thank you for this submission. See: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Rapido/Release_Notes/2024/Rapido_2024_Release_Notes?mon=202409BASE

  12. Configuration option for mandatory fields in the Rapido request form

Currently, there is no option for customers to set fields in the Rapido request form as mandatory (mark them with a red asterix, form can only be sent when field is not empty). However, it is not possible for libraries to fulfill requests where certain information is missing (e.g., no page numbers in digitization requests). We would appreciate if customers would become able to set any field in the form as mandatory such as it is already the case in the GetIt request forms in Primo VE.

  13. Replace Download Link from Primo My Account with Notice of Expiration, upon Expiration

Once a download link has expired, it is misleading to leave this in the patron's My Account area. Upon expiration, please replace this download link with a notice of expiration.

  14. Article Galaxy Add-On App

It would be useful to have the option to place requests where a cost can’t be given and let Reprints desk run with it. You can set maximum cost on your Reprints account and although the cost of an article may be To Be Determined Reprints often source the items successfully within the cost limit. With the app, when a price can’t be given we still need to step outside of Alma and use the Reprints platform. I’d also like to be able to place requests that don’t contain a page range for an epub ahead of print for example.…

  15. Quick action for activating or dismissing notes on requests

When you create a new note from the right panel of a request (the yellow sticky note), it's not currently possible to activate the note from here. Instead you have to edit the request > go to notes tab > select Update Notes and choose to Activate notes. Similar steps are required if you want to dismiss an already active note. Since there are so many steps to activate or dismiss a note, currently staff are less likely to do this and therefore the 'Active Notes' facet/set is not truly reflective of which notes staff should pay attention to (e.g.…

  16. Show lending library on Receive Item screen

Sometimes multiple libraries fill a request for an item but you cannot see who the system thinks supplied the item without opening the request. Please add the lending library to the Receive Item screen so that you can ensure you are receiving the correct book from the correct library.

  17. Add the ability to create exclusionary sets in Rapido

We need the ability to create sets in Rapido based on "does not include" criteria. For instance: a set of all active lending requests where the borrowing library is NOT "Library X". This would help libraries that have different sets of lending rules for certain partner libraries (likely a common issue for libraries that are part of consortia).

  18. Lending reports - top borrowers/borrower stats

As an ILL staff member who is not a systems or analytics expert, I would like an out of the box lending report listing the libraries that borrow from us the most over a large period of time so that I can appropriately allocate processing space and staff time. Since we process local scan requests through Rapido, I would like to be able to exclude a specific library (us) from this report.

  19. Lending reports - fill rates

As an ILL staff member who is not a systems or analytics expert, I would like one or more out of the box lending reports showing our fill rates (requests supplied vs. requests received for a selected period of time) so I can correct inefficiencies and maintain the level of service required by RapidILL agreements.

  20. Lending reports - reject reasons

As an ILL staff member who is not a systems or analytics expert, I would like one or more out of the box lending reports of reject reasons so I can locate and correct problems with workflows, staffing levels, and configurations.

I would recommend something like "reject reasons used in (large unit of time) by (smaller unit of time)," such as in a month by day or in a year by week, and "reject reasons used in (unit of time) as percentage of the whole."
