How can we improve Rapido?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Attempt to balance loaning and borrowing within a pod

    We recently joined, and then 3 months later withdrew from, the US Pod. We were lending twice as many books as we were borrowing, and since it's reciprocal, it was a net cost for us when you include the shipping costs. We would want to join again, if there was a load balancing function that reprioritized lenders based on who was a net lender vs a net borrower. It would not need to be perfectly equal; maybe a quarterly review and adjustment. The current load balancing as I understand it only balances per day, which was not working for us.…

    Changes to load balancing are planned for q4 2026 release. Previously, only lending volume was referenced in picking which lender to assign a request to within a pod. The load balancing for pod requests will look at borrowing volume from the last 30 days in calculating the borrowing to lending ratio for a library when determining the lender.

  2. Add "additional format" question to all patron forms

    There is currently a checkbox titled "Allow other format" under "Request attributes" in Rapido to indicate whether a patron will accept a format other than the one requested. This checkbox is currently used only when staff are placing requests on behalf of a patron, but it would be useful to have this information for all requests. Currently, if a patron requests an ebook and we are unable to get it we have to email them to find out if they can take a physical version.     The desired functionality to understand the resource type the patron desires will be delivered through allowing the user to select a new field of resource type. This selection will be used in finding lenders and communicated to other Rapido libraries. If the user does not specify the resource type then additional resource types will be considered when finding a lender.
