← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

    Hello,

    Unfortunately, Portico does not maintain metadata for discovery services.

    Therefore there is no way to add the OA indicator for their CDI records.

  2. Create JSTOR Withdrawn Ebooks Collection

    Please work with JSTOR to create a separate withdrawn titles collection in the 360 KB for JSTOR e-book content that is not available to new customers but continues to be available for existing customers.

    Unfortunately, JSTOR does not maintain a title list for withdrawn titles.

    Therefore, we cannot support such a collection, and it can only be done in your local environment.

  5. Oxford Scholarship Online Yearly subject specific collections for years prior to 2022

    Most of the Oxford Scholarship Online subject specific collections only have yearly collections that go back to 2022 (for example Classical Studies has a 2022 and 2023 collection). Could yearly collections for the years prior to 2022 be added to the Alma CZ? We are particularly interested in yearly subject specific collections for the following subjects:

    Political Science
    Literature
    Business & Management
    Classical Studies
    Economics and Finance
    History
    Linguistics
    Neuroscience
    Philosophy
    Psychology
    Public Health and Epidemiology
    Religion

    American Welding Society eBooks is available through the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Digital Collection. The page for the books is below:

  8. Enrich CZ bib data for Africa Commons: Southern African Films and Documentaries

    The Africa Commons: Southern African Films and Documentaries collection is a collection of films from Africa. It looks like the portfolios and bibs were created by loading a KBART file. That process creates bib records that contain very little data (just a 245 title, a 260 publisher, and a 906 VIDEO). See attached example of a typical bib in this collection. Could Ex Libris please work with the provider, Coherent Digital, to overlay the brief bibs with full bibs? This is a collection of films from southern Africa that are not available from any other source, so enriching this bib…

    Could someone review the IEEE Xplore River Publishers ebooks 2024 collection in the CZ? There are 27 portfolios showing in this collection but the title list given to me by Content Online had 60 titles listed. I attach the title list I was given in January 2024

    Springer will not provide us with these title lists, since these collections are no longer available as individual annual collections.

    The content can be selected within the target created from
    Springer Nature - Palgrave Book Archive - Springer Economics and Finance Collection (613810000000000407) under the Palgrave Archive eBook Collections.

    Hello,

    We are having issues with the feed from the provider, which contains selected Open Access titles as well as book chapter metadata instead of only title level metadata.

    This is tracked in the Known Issues page:

    There is no timeline for resolving this, so we cannot update the collection.

    "Review" would be more accurate for items that are part of the Editor's Choice section of each issue of the Science Signaling journal. According to their website, the Editor's Choice section is editorial commentary on research. Can the articles from this section of the Science Signaling journal be relabeled as "review" to increase clarity?

    "Architectural Institute of Japan Search System (日本建築学会論文等検索システム - 機関定額制)" is a database managed by Architectural Institute of Japan.
    It contains many publications published by Architectural Institute of Japan.
    Some of journals has been covered by existing databases like IRDB, J-STAGE but this database includes not only academic journals but also conference reports or any other type of contents, and they are not searchable on discovery.
