Content

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

If you want to add an institutional repository, please open a case and follow the documentation here:

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

**If you are a content provider, please review the submission guides for more information on how to reach out

  4. It would be get to have EIU databases indexed into Summon

Summon is a very huge part of what student use for research so they do not have to go to multiple databases and to figure out again later if they have or have not tried that database. With having EIU database in Summon it will provide users other database that will come up when they are searching for topics on economic trends, political, cultural information, business, finance, science, and technology. This will help expand these areas for all users.

    Hello all,

As previously updated, following our extensive analysis and assessments of the complexity for both Ex Libris and CORE to provide and display this content on the necessary level of quality and currency, we will not ingest the CORE content.

At this stage there is no change to this status and our decision, though we do routinely review the request. We will reopen the request should anything change.

We continue to be interested in ingesting this type of content and are continuously working with providers to promote this activity.

    Hello all,

At this point we will need to decline this request as Agrovoc can provide several formats though these do not include the MARC format which is required for us to ingest Authorities.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but will keep this request in our backlog should we be able to ingest other formats in the future, or if Agrovoc provide the MARC format.
If you become aware of a change in the available file formats from Agrovoc please let us know and we can reopen this request.

    Hello,

Following a discussion with EBSCO, we have received the below information from them regarding this request:

    ---

I'd like to inform you that the collections provided are not databases due to which we are unable to provide title lists for these collections. These collections are available as packages in the Holdings Management knowledge base.

The customers can log in to their EBSCO admin account and download the title list for these collections by following the steps provided in the below FAQ.

    https://connect.ebsco.com/s/article/Holdings-Management-Downloading-Your-Holdings

The title lists in the Holdings Management tab can only be downloaded if the packages are selected in their holdings. Also, the title list can be downloaded in KBART format from Holdings Management.

We have been in contact with Paratext directly, but due to re-licensing agreement limitations we cannot at this time include the Reference Universe content in our Discovery systems.
We are leaving this door open in the event that Paratext will be able to re-license the content at a later stage, in collaboration with their direct providers.

  17. add patent information to Primo Central

At its core the Primo Central Index content is all about scientific publications. But since the integration of the ProQuest resources the resource type scope became much wider
    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/@api/deki/files/42859/Primo_Central_Index_Resource_Types.pdf
Patents applications are published by the national patent offices and they are publicly available. For a science and technology audience it would be very beneficial to search patent publications and literature publications in one index. First choice would be the publications from patent offices. Second best would be data from commercial aggregators.

    Hello all,

Our goal in providing content for our customers is to ensure that it is as optimally searchable and discoverable as possible.
The search requirements for patents are not the same as the standard academic search parameters and fields, nor are the display needs and usage methods.
In order to support these, an optimized Primo user interface would be required, as was developed for newspapers.
Therefore we believe that ingesting patent content at this time would not promote better discoverability or usage.

Such an Idea could be suggested on the Primo Idea Exchange Forum, and would need to be assessed accordingly.

    Best,
    Rael

  18. MOOC, Open Courses and Open Coursewares

As helpful to newbies on curtain subject as other results already included in Summon Index.

Index the resourses from Coursera, edX, HarvardX, or any MOOC platform around the world. As well as OCWs at MIT, etc.

Many popular courses are hosted on multiple platforms, so they need to be generalized by name and teachers, like what EJP does for journals, I suppose.

  20. Collection: Unglue.it open access books

unglue.it provides free MARC records for its collection of open access ebooks (see https://unglue.it/libraries/)

This would be useful both for discovery (complementing other open access resources) and as a collection for CZ (so we could choose to activate either specific titles or the whole collection.)

(From previous conversations with them I'm sure they'd very much welcome working on this with Ex Libris.)
