← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

    Hello,

    After further discussions with Liverpool UP, it appears that here are currently no plans to offer a product specifically designed for managing archival rights, so there is no title list to support a separate archival collection.

    The titles are available in the Liverpool University Press collection (Collection ID: 612420000000000023) with the following coverage:

    • French Studies Bulletin (ISSN: 1748-9180), available from 1981 (Vol. 1)
    • French Studies (ISSN: 1468-2931), available from 1947 (Vol. 1)

    This is considered by De Gruyter as a multi-volume work, and there is no separate title list for this.

    All the volumes are available in De Gruyter eBooks Complete, Collection ID 611000000000002268.

  3. Add new collections for SpringerLink Lecture Notes in Computer Science

    There are already several separate collections in Alma for SpringerLink Lecture Notes in Computer Science for various years. However these stop at 2020.

    Is it possible to add collections for 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 to allow for perpetual access to be activated?

    There is already a community bib for Bulletin de la Société chimique de France (99110985822454602), Paris, Masson. This covers 1907-1933.

  6. Improve metadata for ProQuest Historical Annual Reports

    Please improve the metadata for the (ProQuest) Historical Annual Reports - Collection ID: 613800000000000384. Average bib rank for this collection is quite low (26.22). Most just have a title. I asked my cataloger what she'd like to see on this records, and she sent the attached. Whatever you can provide would be helpful. Thank you!

  7. Please add umbrella collections for Adam Matthew AM collections with portfolios

    I appreciate that Adam Matthew collections are represented with portfolios in the CZ! But when we subscribed to AM Explorer I had to manually activate 140+ collections. It would be helpful if in addition to the individual collections, there were umbrella collections with portfolios for the packages of category collections Adam Matthew provides, e.g., AM Primary collections, AM Archives Direct collections, AM Scholar collections, and AM Research Skills collections. Also including a portfolio for each container collection would be ideal.

  8. Create electronic collection for 'Modern Humanities Research Association Package' with Project MUSE interface

    CZ already has an electronic collection for Modern Humanities Research Association Package, however the interface is JSTOR. This package's current access moved from JSTOR CSP to Project MUSE - Hosted Only package and not a part of other Project MUSE packages.

    Project Muse confirmed they are not maintaining a title list for the MHRA titles, and that you should either activate the autoholdings collection (Project Muse Open Access Journals, Collection ID: 615420000000000140) or one of the below collections:

  9. Update American Association of Neurological Surgeons Publications on KB & CZ

    American Association of Neurological Surgeons Publications , code NEU, has not been updated since 2018. Since then, they started two new gold open-access journals, Neurosurgical Focus: Video and Journal of Neurosurgery Case Lessons, but they have not been in the journal list yet.

    So, I hope you will update the journal list as soon as possible.

  11. Updating Hrcak: Portal of scientific journals of Croatia on KB & CZ

    Portal of scientific journals of Croatia, code VP8, includes 353 journals on 360 KB. However, in their website, https://hrcak.srce.hr/en, it indicated 552 journal are incluided.

    I would like you to update title list and change Database name as HRČAK: Portal of Croatian scientific and professional journals soon.

  12. Update ScienceDirect Journals (Transactional Access) journal list on KB & CZ

    ScienceDirect Journals (Transactional Access) , code AFTJW, has not been updated since 2020. It seems Elsevier only provides "Journals without transactional access" journal list instead of Transactional access available one.
    So, I hope ExLibris will make updated ScienceDirect Journals (Transactional Access) journal list as soon as possible.

    Наукова періодика України (Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine), code 9MQ, includes 1752 journalson 360 KB. However, in their website, http://www.irbis-nbuv.gov.ua/cgi-bin/irbis_nbuv/cgiirbis_64.exe?C21COM=F&I21DBN=UJRN&P21DBN=UJRN&S21CNR=20&Z21ID=, it indicated 3035 journal are incluided.

    I would like you to update title list and range holding years soon.

  14. Update Arianta : Polish Scientific and Professional Electronic Journals on KB & CZ

    Since last update in 2020, Arianta , code Y2W, has included more journals than 5 years ago.
    When I asked Ms. Aneta Drabek of Arianta administrator to update title lists in 2023, she replied that she had no connection with ExLibris at the moment.
    I hope the company would contact Ms.Drabek for asking journal list & update journal list in 360 KB soon.

  15. Add full MARC records to CZ for OverDrive and Kanopy

    OverDrive and Kanopy collections have recently been added to the Alma Community Zone. We're thrilled at this possibility, as it should help consortium members manage their collections better. However, the brief MARC records are wholly unexpected given that the company provides MARC records to subscribers.

    If it is contractually possible, please add the company's MARC records to the CZ for corresponding portfolios, as this will aid in discovery and efficiency for both the consortium and member libraries.

    The OverDrive Ebooks and Audiobooks (Collection ID: 61499649300000041) has a Bib rank of 77, which is currently the best we can get.

    Kanopy currently does not provide MARC records. However, we have communicated to them that there is significant interest from the community in obtaining better records and we hope they will be able to provide these in the future.

    Since Naxos Music Library is supported, can records for their Sheet Music Library be added into the CDI, please?

    The content changes monthly, but the vendor told us they send updated lists (spreadsheets) to libraries upon request.

  18. Add Open Access eBooks from the Publisher Wallstein Verlag, Göttingen, Germany to the Knowledgebases

    The Wallstein Verlag has published a number of open access eBooks in the humanities, and the number is increasing.
    It would be fantastic if these OA eBooks could be made available as an eCollection in ALMA.

  19. Sage Business Cases Indigenous Business Stories Project

    Sage, one of Ex Libris's existing provider partners, has launched a new free Business Cases collection, the Indigenous Business Stories Project. According to Sage, this is a free collection that features studies of businesses founded by Indigenous entrepreneurs. Sage says this collection will give students an understanding of sustainable, community-driven business practices. This collection will expand the global business perspectives represented in CZ content, and because it is free to access, many libraries will likely be interested in activating it in the CZ.
