← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

    BioCyc is a key resource used by scientists leading Covid-19 research efforts at Cambridge University to support structural and dynamical analyses of the host and virus metabolism.

    BWB Treaty of Waitangi Collection (http://collections.bwb.co.nz/acfs/bookstore/AAAA0478/) provides full text access to ebooks on Treaty of Waitangi, and New Zealand history. Summon doesn't currently index this so I wanted to put it forward for consideration.

  4. Update Kluwer navigator EZ7

    Kluwer Nederland has the intention to exchange their metadata of the database Kluwer navigator EZ7 with ExLibris. In the past they were committed to OCLC - now they want to start with other discover tools.

    Unfortunately the provider has a policy that does not allow Ex Libris to receive metadata on document level for their complete content.

    The collection @Law is currently in the 360 KB (database code NALAW), but not yet ingested into the CDI. Metadata information for this publication can be acquired by reaching out via contact information available at www.nals.org/page/atlaw. Please consider adding this to the CDI.

  6. Add DigiZeitschriften to PCI / CDI

    We would like to see the journal platform DigiZeitschriften added to PCI / CDI.

    For more information, see: https://www.digizeitschriften.de/en/

    In Alma there are already 3 Electronic Collections:
    - DigiZeitschriften Open Access
    - DigiZeitschriften Subscription
    - DigiZeitschriften Journals

    Please keep this subdivision in PCI / CDI.

    Since this source contains many old journals without ISSN, it would probably be better if the links to the full text came directly from DigiZeitschriften (Primo Link section) to avoid problems with the link resolver (Alma ViewIt).

    Provider: Gale, Database: DemographicsNow
    Description Hello Ex Libris support team, This was originally added as case no: 00819126, however one of the migration managers for my Voyager to Alma migration said I needed to add each of the databases I am having issues with as a separate case in the Support portal. I WAS TOLD TO PUT THIS IN THE IDEA EXCHANGE AREA.
    There are some databases from MeL that I am unable to find in Alma production environment or the PrimoVE view via Alma prod enviro. I noticed that all the databases not in Alma prod enviro are ones…

  11. Portfolios for HathiTrust journals

    The Alma Community Zone does not have a HathiTrust collection with electronic journal portfolios, but only database-type collections. It would be helpful to have portfolios for the electronic journals so that the titles could be included in Journal searches and coverage indicated.

    International Monetary Fund content is now free. Could you add eLibrary.IMF.org as a database? It contains books, reports and journals. MARC records are available.

  14. PCI / CDI: Please make sure that Open Access archives are really OA

    In Primo Central Index / Central Discovery Index, some archives are incorrectly referred to as Open Access.

    Please check the availability of documents in Open Access archives with "Link in record". If these archives sometimes also contain blocked documents or only title pages, tables of contents or abstracts, please split these archives into several collections, e.g. Open Access and Restricted Access.

    Records which link only to title pages, tables of contents or abstracts should not appear in Open Access collections with "Link in record".

    Hello,

    We are familiar with the nature of such collections which had previously been identified as fully Open Access, but in fact contain a majority of titles that are not freely available.

    In order to address this we are reviewing our content to update such collections and re-classify them as “Partially Open Access” for better accuracy, based on the majority of the content within each collection.

    If you encounter such a collection which you would like us to consider for re-assessment, please submit a Support Case so that we can analyze the request and process it.
    In some cases we may encourage the community to discuss this matter with the content provider directly so that they can update their offerings and possibly generate two separate title lists to distinguish between their Open Access and paid content.

  15. Direct ingestion of Burlington Magazine (ISSN 0007-6287)

    Some articles from this key art journal are categorised as citation-only in our Instance of Summon, when full text is available. This is apparently because the journal is not directly ingested. Can direct ingestion be introduced for this title?

    Please add Gale videos to Serials Solutions so that they can be tracked.

    When I am compiling library statistics, I like to use Serials Solutions. However, the Gale collections contain over 3600+ videos and none are listed in Serials Solutions to track.

    Current Factiva Collection on PCI is only for Corporate Factiva clients who subscribe to "Factiva Major News and Business Publications". Could you please add titles for academic subscriptions (included french ones) ?
