← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

    OAI-service gives access to harvest bibliographic data.

    The national bibliographic data are freely available and doesn’t need to be authorized. There is a limit of how many records can be harvested at a time, but you can set a script to harvest continuously.

    At this time, it appears that seBibliotek.dk will not be providing metadata for CDI.

    I will go ahead and close this idea for now, but if the situation changes in the future, we’ll be happy to revisit the discussion.

  3. NERS 2021 - Biblioteca GFL Volumi and Riviste

    GFL is a major Italian publisher that publishes many academic journals and books in Law and Economics. The majority of Italian Universities subscribe these collections. It is vital that Italian researchers be able to access these journals and books through Summon, but there is no specific CZ collection for them.

    After further investigation, there is no known available title list that would enable us to support this content as a FT collection in the KBs.

    So ARTstor titles will continue to be supported in CDI only.

  12. Add "Educational Video Online" to discovery index

    "Educational Video Online" is the product of MARUZEN Publishing.
    It is a Japanese database which contains medical and nursing subject video contents, and the number of subscribing institutions is growing after COVID.
    It will be beneficial to users if they can search for it in discovery services.

    Please, update name utb scholars and utb studi ebooks to utb elibrary. Both collections are now hosted by utb elibrary https://elibrary.utb.de/.
    ExLibris has already updated portfolio informations with the correct linking parameters.

  14. Bloomsbury Collections: Update target for all titles

    The current Intota target for Bloomsbury Collections: All Titles has only 10,000 titles, but the publisher indicates there should be another 4,000, and they have started an EBA program which will increase demand for this target.

    Following a discussion with EBSCO, we have received the below information from them regarding this request:

    I'd like to inform you that the collections provided are not databases due to which we are unable to provide title lists for these collections. These collections are available as packages in the Holdings Management knowledge base.

    The customers can log in to their EBSCO admin account and download the title list for these collections by following the steps provided in the below FAQ.

    The title lists in the Holdings Management tab can only be downloaded if the packages are selected in their holdings. Also, the title list can be downloaded in KBART format from Holdings Management.

    Can Unpaywall be available to import either as a normal aggregator collection or CDI? I can see that Unpaywall mentioning that it would be available for Primo integration but it is not the case at the moment.
