Content

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

If you want to add an institutional repository, please open a case and follow the documentation here:

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

**If you are a content provider, please review the submission guides for more information on how to reach out

  1. SPRINGER_NATURE__SPRINGER_PROTOCOLS_ARCHIVE

We purchased 1980-2010 of the Springer Protocols Archive. There are 3 targets but none have the same coverage as our purchase: 1980-2004, 1980-2024 and 2008-2024. Would it be possible to get a target in SFX that covers 1980-2010?

    Hello,

At this time, Springer is not producing the title list for this collection, therefore we will not be able to add it to the Knowledgebases.

    Kind regards,

  2. Request to Include DOI in Article Links for Article Galaxy Scholar

I would like to request that the DOI be included in the article links for Reprints Desk Article Galaxy Scholar (dbcode: ABJNI).

The reason for this request is that Article Galaxy Scholar checks for the availability of open-access articles using the DOI. Currently, the DOI is not included in the full-text links, which prevents the open-access check from functioning properly.

    Hello,

This request for adding DOI in article links is better addressed in a support ticket, as it is a request to update an existing collection.

Please open a support ticket, so our designated support analysts can review and decide on the best course of action.

  3. Update coverage for Alma's Telegraph Historical Archive collection

Gale’s Telegraph Historical Archive includes content from 1855-2021 (see https://www.gale.com/c/the-telegraph-historical-archive) but the portfolio in the Alma CZ collection (Collection ID 614910000000001620) shows “Available from 1855 until 2016.” Can this be updated?

  4. Please add to CDI images from the flickr commons of institutions

    Hello,

Please consider adding to CDI images from:
    https://www.flickr.com/commons/institutions

In the CZ there is a database for "Flickr Images" - Collection ID: 6113989190000041, however, it is not CDI.

The images from libraries and archives that appear in Flickr can be a very useful addition to image format search in CDI.

    Thanks,
    Irit and Dafna

    Hello,

We received a response from Flickr, in which they require payment for sending us the metadata.

In this case, we will not pursue adding the collection to CDI.

  6. Bloomsbury Fashion 2023

Please add a collection for Bloomsbury Fashion 2023. While this collection currently does exist (id 615460000000001242), many portfolios were removed from it.

The titles from this collection have been added to Bloomsbury Fashion Central which only provides access to customers that have purchased the database and does not provide access to those that purchased the ebook subject collection.
Ex. Link for Bloomsbury Fashion Central https://www.bloomsburyfashioncentral.com/encyclopedia?docid=b-9781350247789
    Link for Bloomsbury Ebooks https://www.bloomsburycollections.com/monograph?docid=b-9781350247789

All other Bloomsbury Collection ebooks have subject collections in the CZ and Fashion 2023 should not be an exception.

    Thank you!

    Hello,

As you wrote, Bloomsbury Fashion 2023 already exists so we will not create anew collection with the same name, rather we need to review why the titles were removed and to set up automation for the updating file to get the titles back.

Please open a support case, so we can best address this issue.

Health Affairs (Provider & Database & Title)
    Direct link: https://www.healthaffairs.org/

Currently available in Single Journals, but if it was made its own Provide and Database the article-level could be DOI based and it would greatly improve access from Summon.

According to Gale, this segment is not purchasable separately than the collection that is already in the Knowledgebases:

    Hello,

Wiley does not maintain a title list for this resource due to differing sales models.

Therefore, some textbooks are available on Wiley Online Library and others are not. If the title is hosted on Wiley Online Library, it will be included in the A-Z file and the holdings feed. However, if it is hosted elsewhere, it will not be included.

    Kind regards,

    Tamar

  18. McGraw Hill Access Dermatology Archive

ALMA currently has the following collection for the McGraw Hill Access Dermatology site:

    McGraw Hill Access Dermatology DxRx

The collection doesn't include archived content for previous editions:

    https://dermatology.mhmedical.com/ArchivedTextbooks.aspx

ALMA has collections for the archive on other McGraw Hill sites. For example:

    McGraw Hill Access Medicine Archive
    McGraw Hill Access Anesthesiology Archive
    McGraw Hill Access Obgyn Archive

Please add an archive collection for Access Dermatology.

    Hello,

The provider has confirmed they do not have any archival content for Dermatology.

We have presented them with the link you shared, but we still cannot obtain the metadata for that website content.

I would suggest reaching out to the provider and clarifying what would be the expected collection for this archive, feel free to cc' me:

    Hello,

GOKb, which manages title lists for BIBSAM, responded that they are not maintaining title list for Brill anymore. The collection that is covered by this agreement is not Bibsam specific. Therefore, the Bibsam member libraries can use the general Brill package in Exlibris, i.e. “Brillonline journals”.

  20. More Naxos metadata in Community Zone

Hello, I see that there are now no-portfolio databases in the Community Zone for the different Naxos collections and that these are region-specific.

At our institution, we have separate Primo search scopes for articles (where the CDI records appear) and everything else. We'd like our Naxos records to appear within the 'everything else' scope so would prefer to use bibliographic records and portfolios to manage these collections. Is it possible to include title-level records in the CZ for these collections? Then institutions would have the choice to use CZ records, or CDI records, or both.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, we are not able to use the Naxos records to create CZ collections, as there is now ay to set up an automated update for them.

We are able to use them for CDI, and created regional collections to correspond with the different Naxos collections.

    Kind regards,

    Tamar
