All MARC records in the Alma Community Zone should be sorted chronologically between MARC fields 500 - 899.
The fact that the MARC fields between 500 and 899 are not sorted chronologically for all Alma Community Zone MARC records makes it difficult for us to use the “Collections” function in Primo.
In the Collections function in Primo, we display the author on the overview page in addition to the title. The author is displayed via a small script in Primo. This script takes the “au” field from the PNX record of the title or, if “au” is not available, the “addau” field and displays the first value from “au” or “addau” in the title overview of the collections.
Because the MARC fields are not sorted chronologically, we often have results that do not meet our expectations (e.g., because field 710 appears before field 700, the publishing house is shown as the author of the publication).
Hello,
We have created an XSL normalization rule, and now this has been fixed.
You can read more about this here
https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/blog/alma-xsl-normalization-rule-examples/.
In addition, see also “An XSL stylesheet to sort fields” in https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/blog/alma-xsl-normalization-rule-examples/
and test the the applied normalization on MMS ID 9931255818600041 in Community Zone.
Kind regards,
Tamar

Hello,
The rule works on Save - so it will apply on records that are trigged and saved.
If you want this rule to apply on a broader set, please open a support ticket with the relevant set information.
Kind regards,

Hi Tamar, thank you for the update. The normalization rule seems to have been applied only to the metadata in my example (MMS ID 9931255818600041). Does ExLibris plan to apply it to all metadata in the CZ, or should institutions take care of it themselves? Thank you for clarifying this!
Best
