← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Could you please add the collection "ELSEVIER_EBOOK_FREEDOM_COLLECTION_BOOKS" to SFX KB?

    Could you please add the collection "ELSEVIEREBOOKFREEDOMCOLLECTIONBOOKS" to SFX KB? We subscribe to the whole freedom colleciton but we can only findhte the 2017/2018 freedom collection.

    Please add the Ebooks Minnesota collection to both the Alma CZ and the Primo Central Index. This collection is freely accessible to all people located in the state of Minnesota and is therefore used by every Minnesota library (public, K12, higher ed, etc.).   4. French MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) vocabulary implementation

    As a scientific librarian in a French-speaking university hospital in Switzerland, I would like to have the opportunity for our library users to search also with French medical subject headings.

    The NLM (National Library of Medicine) MeSH vocabulary https://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/ is already implemented in Alma but Inserm (Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale) https://www.inserm.fr/ did its translation http://mesh.inserm.fr/FrenchMesh/ and is available for download here http://mesh.inserm.fr/FrenchMesh/conditions_en.htm

  5. Add New York Times

    Please add to the Alma CZ. The provider is New York Times Company, and there are three titles / portfolios:New York Times, New York Times Book Review, and New York Times Magazine. Collection url is http://www.nytimes.com. This is not the same as the 'multimedia search' option currently in the CZ.

  6. Add more coverage for "Cambridge Core All Books"

    Add more coverage for full text, for the database "Cambridge Core All Books" because in Summon Client Center only has a 61% coverage.

  7. All Oxford University Press eBook titles

    There is no All Oxford University Press eBooks collection.

    It would be very helpful to create this collection so that libraries developing collections via EBA programs can differentiate between subscribed-to vs. perpetually-owned content without having to individually create and manage local collections.

    https://documents.un.org is a precious source for everyone dealing with research on international politics and this international organization with his subsidiaries and special agencies. It would be great if you could add the content to primo central.

    EBSCO has created a new resource as of July 2018, MLA International Bibliography with Full Text from EBSCO. This e-collection is not available in the CZ. Can this full text resource be added to CKB?

  10. Knowledge Unlatched KU Select 2017

    Dear support

    Since the contents of Knowledge Unlatched until KU Select 2016 successfully received a target, I hereby like to request a target for KU Select 2017 as well.

    Concerning the information flow, the provider recommends Ex Libris to use the XML feed available in the KU platform (tailored for sharing metadata with distribution partners). This way Ex Libris can rest assured that they always include the latest Open Access books and future Open Access collections.     Please add this package ASAP. We have been waiting well over a year for this collection of 700+ portfolios to be added to the CZ. In a large consortial environment we rely on CZ records to maintain accurate linking.

    Referring to Salesforce case 00552970, I like to ask you to create a subtarget FIAFINTERNATIONALINDEXTOFILMPERIODICALSJOURNALS and attach the target "OVID" to it. The URL is http://ovidsp.uk.ovid.com/sp-3.30.0b/ovidweb.cgi, the content equals the one available on FIAF via EBSCO.

    Can you contact the provider OVID, so that he can allow his version of FIAF to be added to the SFX KB?
