← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  7. Create Target EZB-FREE-00999

    The Elektronische Zeitschriftenbibliothek Regensburg published a new collection EZB-FREE-00999 for download (see http://ezb.uni-regensburg.de/services/collections.phtml). Can you please use it to create a target in SFX and a collection in Alma accordingly?

    Alternatively you may use EZB-FREE-00999 to update the existing ELEKTRONISCHEZEITSCHRIFTENBIBLIOTHEKFREIZUGANGLICHEE_JOURNALS regularly.

  8. SFX Release Notes web page needs ability to link to a specific week.

    SFX Release Notes web page needs ability to link to a specific week.

    The new SFX release notes are now on a dynamic webpage and if I want to view a particular week's notes, I have to select that week from a dropdown menu. However, when I choose the "Share this page" link for that page, the shared link is for the entire webpage - not the week I selected to view.

    It would be nice I could craft a URL that I can send to someone that would display that page with a preselect week. e.g.:

    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/SFX/Content_Corner/2019_SFX_KB_Release_Notes?Release=Week-01

  9. Jisc Historical Texts - Eighteenth Century Collections Parts 1 and 2

    The original idea is now marked as completed - https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/574345-content/suggestions/19523596-jisc-historical-texts

    However, There should be over 180,000 books in ECCO. It is ECCO parts 1 and 2. There are only 66,000 portfolios in the CZ at the moment. Can the remaining portfolios be added as a matter of urgency please?

  12. Project Muse EBA All Single Title Collection

    Please load the Project Muse EBA All Single Title Collection to the Alma CZ. Per Johns Hopkins University Press, they have been working with you. We recently started this EBA program and it would be preferable to manage with CZ records and KBART than with MARC records.

  15. E-Journal target for SFX: JSTOR_SUSTAINABILITY_JOURNALS

    We are proposing to create a new target for the JSTOR-collection "Sustainability Journals" with the name: JSTORSUSTAINABILITYJOURNALS

    The SFX target JSTORSUSTAINABILITYJOURNALSANDRESEARCH_REPORTS (4577 portfolios) exists already but cannot be activated when the journals-only collection is available at an institution.
    Therefore its necessary to have an Journals-only target in SFX as well.

    The University of Michigan Press recently launched ebook collections on the new Fulcrum platform.

    I wish Ex Libris would add University of Michigan Press ebook collections to the Alma Community Zone (title lists and MARC records) as well as to the forthcoming Central Discovery Index.
