← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

  2. Projectr Edu

    Please add Projectr Edu collection(s) to the knowledge bases as well as MARC records for the titles. Projectr Edu is a streaming video platform for libraries from Grasshopper Films. It contains close to 1,000 films. They're adding new titles very frequently so it would need to be updated regularly. Contact info: info@projectr.tv and Ryan Krivoshey ryan@grasshopperfilm.com There may need to be collection variations by geographic region due to rights restrictions.

  3. Can you please create a separate platform for ‘ScienceOpen’ to track title by title content available via ScienceOpen?

    Hello,
    Can you please create a separate platform dedicated for 'ScienceOpen' if convenient as Taylor and Francis have announced that they will not be publishing 'Review of African Political Economy' after completion of Volume 49, Issue 178, 2023 and the journal will be published through Science Open in 2024 instead? Looks like the main URL is https://www.scienceopen.com/

  5. Add Oxford Scholarship Online 2023 collection

    Oxford has KBART lists for their whole Oxford Scholarship Online collection at their website. https://global.oup.com/academic/librarians/manage/kbart-files/?cc=us&lang=en&#ox_schol_onli

    There are currently only subject-specific 2023 annual collections in the 360 knowledgebase, but none for the full Oxford Scholarship Online 2023 collection. Both are necessary, as libraries may purchase one subject, or all of them.

    There is a Springer Nature Computer Science (RO) eBooks 2008 English/International but no Springer Computer Science eBooks 2008 English/International, which includes the Reference ebooks.   13. Add Big Ten Open Books collection

    The Big Ten Academic Alliance (a consortium of major U.S. libraries, of which Rutgers is a member) has released an ebook collection called Big Ten Open Ebooks (https://www.fulcrum.org/bigten) on the Fulcrum platform, the University of Michigan's ebook platform. Several collections from University of Michigan's Fulcrum platform are already in the CZ, including ACLS Humanities Ebook and University of Michigan Press Ebooks. The University of Michigan manages all the metadata for these old collections and this new collection. Could Ex Libris please work with established provider partner, University of Michigan, to load this new collection?

  16. Add Walter De Gruyter Publishing collection for Vervuert 2023

    We have noticed that there is not yet a collection in the ALMA Community Zone for 2023 Vervuert books through Walter De Gruyter Publishing. The De Gruyter site has 2023 books for Vervuert but there is no collection in ALMA. The most recent collection is the following from 2022:

  18. JSTOR Path to Open Ebooks

    The first 100 titles in JSTOR's new Path to Open initiative will be live on their platform in October. The title list is already available so it would be great if Ex Libris could work to add the new collection in time for when the titles go live.

  19. New Database Request - SAGE:Jisc Collections:SAGE Journals Read and Publish 2023-2024: Reading List - 360 KB

    A new Jisc agreement has been released for SAGE Journals covering 2023-2024. We therefore need a new database in 360 KB to reflect the current collection and replace the now out-of-date database that covered the 2020-2022 agreement [Sage:Jisc Collections:SAGE Journals Read & Publish 2020-2022 Agreement (Reading List) AIOMO]

  20. Kanopy Base Collection

    Hello,
    Recently we've had 15 member libraries purchase the new "Kanopy Base Collection". In addition CARLI staff know of at least four other I-Share Alma libraries with significant Kanopy streaming video purchases.

    I've checked the content road map and release notes, however, I found nothing from Kanopy "coming soon" beyond the "database" type e-collections in the Community Zone.

    Please consider adding a selective package or aggregator for the Kanopy Base collection.
