← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. MedicinesComplete (Pharmaceutical Press)

    We have the MedicinesComplete database selected in Summon but the content is not discoverable. we have had to load detailed marc records for each of the ebooks and added a best bet in summon to give a link to the MC site. Key titles include Martindale and BNF which ideally would be searchable using Summon

  4. Sage Shallow Backfile Package (2017)

    Please add this package ASAP. We have been waiting well over a year for this collection of 700+ portfolios to be added to the CZ. In a large consortial environment we rely on CZ records to maintain accurate linking.

  5. Update electronic Collections for EBSCOhost Business Source

    There are various different versions of the EBSCOhost Business Source database available to purchase, and these are reflected in the Alma Community Zone.

    However, the Ultimate Collection in the Alma CZ has significantly fewer portfolios that the smaller-Complete collection.

    Could these be checked to ensure that each option is as complete as is possible, thus saving the manual task of determining how best to achieve coverage of our subscribed content?

  8. Add Cambridge Journals 2018 North American Full Package

    Please add this package ASAP. We'd like to see these new title packages at the beginning of a new calendar year. As it is, we either need to take the time to create a local package or we leave our users without accurate holding info. This is not the time-saving we're supposed to realize with the Alma CZ.

  12. Please add a CZ collection for Bloomsbury Dress and Costume Library

    Bloomsbury advise that they provide this set of records (92) to Ex Libris in October 2023, but I'm not able to find this in the CZ. Please can they be added? This is a sub-collection on the Bloomsbury Fashion Central platform.

  19. KnowledgeBase Collection Access to Reprints Desk Journal Titles/Service

    Please add access to the Reprints Desk service with lists of journal titles available from RD by article document delivery via Knowledgebase (including SFX).

    This would allow library patrons using Primo OneSearch and SFX to link to pay-per-view service. This complements the library holdings as well as interlibrary loan services. Very important feature in this day of great budget constraints -- allows patron to have very quick access and turnaround time. Thanks.
