Content

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

  9. Why vote on content enhancements?

Why vote on content enhancement requests? ExLibris should automatically update verified content in the knowledgebase. Considering how much libraries spend on electronic resources, maintaining the knowledgebase should be a high priority. Serials Solutions does this very well.

    Hello all,

There are many considerations for content to be added, and one major factor is the impact we can provide for our community when adding a new resource.
This is the purpose of the voting system which exposes to us the significance and importance of specific content.
Of course we work closely with many providers with whom we maintain a dialog to ensure that the content is added in a timely manner. Providers also request that we add content, and we comply as well.

    Best,
    Rael

  10. Add American Chemical Society Journals and Ebooks to Primo Central Index

Could you please add American Chemical Society (ACS) journals and ebooks as a collection in the Primo Central Index?

Although ACS content is currently included in the Cross Ref PCI collection, they're only brief citations.

  11. CSIRO eBook collections in the community zone

CSIRO have their eBook collections on a new platform (Highwire) and they have MARC records for each yearly collection with fresh links. There are two existing CSIRO collections in the CZ (Archive and 2012) which perhaps just need a refresher. Attached is a spreadsheet of our local collections as an example. Cheers

  16. Cambridge EBA - please add collection to CKB

Please add a collection for Cambridge EBA titles. Not all titles are available for EBA, so currently the options are to not activate (certainly not ideal), activate the collection for all Cambridge e-books and live with having titles active to which we don't have access (leads to user frustration), or activating collection for all Cambridge e-books and then deactivating the titles to which we don't have access (we don't have the staff time for that.)

  18. Springer Protocols

Springer Protocols is available to select for Summon but only the whole database is on or off (you can't select a subset of subscribed titles). We subscribe to 4 specific subject modules so we would like additional databases specifically for each module to make it easy to just turn on the modules we have access to.
