← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Improve indexing of HAL in CDI

    Hal is one of the most important French open archive. The database offers open access documents directly from the platform and references to documents for which the full text is not available.
    In CDI two collections allow to activate the search on this database.
    - Hyper Article en Ligne (HAL) (Open Access) (ID CDI VOOES) which covers only open access records.
    - Hyper Article Online (HAL) (CDI ID 1XC) which covers all the records in HAL.
    Both of the HAL collections are link-in-records databases
    The problem is that it shows as unavailable the records to which we could have gained…

    Hello,

    Our analysts suggested this can be solved by the following settings:

    1. CDI-only full text activation: Unchecked
    2. CDI search activation status: Active

    That will allow distinguishing Open Access records from records that are not available in full text.

  5. Update/Add content from Highwire in Primo Central Index

    One of our key AAP textbooks is hosted on the Highwire platform, but the PCI is not currently receiving content from Highwire (according to the PCO analyst who was handling my support case). Can current content on Highwire please be added to the Discovery Indexes. The content is already in the Knowledge base (SFX). Thank you

  6. Add the "freely available" titles in the EZB "Medicine" category as a new target

    Add the "freely available" titles in the EZB "Medicine" category as a new target for the SFX Knowledgebase. There are already many EZB (University Library of Regensburg Electronic Journals Library) targets in SFX, including the ZB-FREE-00999FREELYAVAILABLEEZBJOURNALS full-text target. This currently contains around 68,000 free title object portfolios.

    We would like to be able to use the "Medicine" subset of the free target (currently 8,977 titles) as many of the other titles are not relevant to our clinicians

  9. CRCnetbase

    Hello,

    It would be great if there was a complete CRCnetbase collection which consisted of all the titles in existing CRCnetbase subject collections for example ENGINEERINGnetbase and AGRICULTUREnetbase. This would clean up our LMS as we would have one instead of 30 collections.

  10. Better Metadata for HANSER_ELIBRARY_BOOKS

    The bib records in the electronic collection Hanser Elibrary Books are very poor and sometimes even wrong.

  11. Center for Research Libraries full text collection in PCI

    We would like to see a new subcollection in Primo Central Index for the Center for Research Libraries "Online Catalog".

    Records in the Online Catalog PCI collection currently link to both CRL metadata only records and CRL records with digitized content.

    If there was a CRL Online Catalog Full Text Only collection (with Link in Record) that only contained "Available online for Center for Research Libraries" (excluding the "Hathitrust available" records) we could activate that collection with assurance our users would be pointed to full text content.

    This content would only be available to CRL members.

    Add Springer's "Synthesis Collection of Technology" collection 12 to the Community Zone (the first 11 Springer "Collection of Technology" collections are already in the CZ). These collections were previously published by Morgan and Claypool as the Synthesis Digital Library.

    American Physiological Society journals have changed platform from Highwire to Atypon. The CZ Highwire press American Physiological Society collection is not valid and contains incorrect links. Please create a new collection for American Physiological Society journals.
