We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).
- Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
- Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
- Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
- For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
- Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
- Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
- A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.
- Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
- New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.

Add S2O years/volumes from Annual Reviews to the Annual Reviews Open Access Collection
Annual Reviews Open Access Collection ID: 615300000000000045 has 9 active portfolios, however 29 titles are available open access for the year 2023 (with more to come). Could you please add these titles with Open Access beginning in 2023? The articles in these 29 titles for 2023 are open access now, and they will remain open access no matter whether the S2O goal is met for the 2024 volume. It is much more efficient for Ex Libris to do it than for individual libraries to add and edit the availability dates.

Update Annual Reviews collection to be open access
Annual Reviews titles have converted to open access but are still listed in the Alma Full Text Rights in CDI field as Subscription and as not free. Please update this collection to freely accessible.

Annual Reviews still require a subscription to have access to the full text.
Although now in S2O model, if support is insufficient, the paywall is retained.
Marking these records as Open Access is misleading, especially if the paywall is retained due to insufficient subscribers.
Therefore I am closing this idea.

Kanopy Base Collection
Hello,
Recently we've had 15 member libraries purchase the new "Kanopy Base Collection". In addition CARLI staff know of at least four other I-Share Alma libraries with significant Kanopy streaming video purchases.Here's a quick description of the newly offered "Kanopy Base Collection" with a link to an example title list. https://www.lyrasis.org/content/Pages/product-details.aspx?pid=3747DED9-9754-ED11-80FE-00155D0A2732
I've checked the content road map and release notes, however, I found nothing from Kanopy "coming soon" beyond the "database" type e-collections in the Community Zone.
Please consider adding a selective package or aggregator for the Kanopy Base collection.

Unfortunately, the provider (OverDrive) cannot technically cooperate with us and provide us with the required feed in a sustainable way.
We hope this will change in the future, but for now I am afraid I will close this idea as it cannot be done.

Create collection for Nexis Uni Plus
There's only one collection in the CZ for Nexis Uni (collection ID 613780000000001685) but there are two versions of this product available from the provider: Core and Plus.
The Plus version includes extra content and, from my spot testing, it seems the current CZ collection is for the Core version.
Please create a new collection for Nexis Uni Plus and rename the existing collection as Nexis Uni Core.

Enrichment of records for Ibuk Libra collection in Community Zone
I propose to enrich the MARC records in the Ibuk Libra collection with additional metadata (ex. author) in Community Zone. Currently, when we activate a local collection of books from Ibuk Libra in Alma (based on a purchased list of e-books), we see only basic metadata in Primo. As Ibuk Libra it is one of the largest and most frequently used databases of e-books in Polish and is often used by students, such supplementation of data will be very useful.

Next Expected Update date for collections
Similar to the "Last Full Update" and "Last Partial Update" dates for collections, it could cut down on the volume of cases about new individual titles if the collections that get updated on a regular schedule also had "Next Expected Update" date to display.

Expected update frequency is not part of any standardized metadata from content providers.
Furthermore, update frequency depends on the content being updated on the platform and due to the nature of the publishing industry, it cannot be committed to in advance. Even regularly updated collections may skip an update cycle because there's no new content added to the collection.
As a result, adding expected update frequency for book collections or journal collections can be misleading as it is hypothetical and may create false expectations.
Therefore, I am closing this idea as 'expected update' cannot be accurately added to collections to create a useful and reliable indication.

Please open a support ticket in SalesForce for this request, as this is for adding a title to an existing collection.
Please also mention the collection ID to make sure it is added to the appropriate collection.

Add America History & Life and Historical Abstracts
These are both key history databases whose usage would no doubt improve if they were indexed within Summon

Unfortunately, Ebsco does not supply Ex Libris with CDI metadata.
However, these resources are aptly represented in CDI:
America History & Life has 92% alternative coverage for the content in that database, and Historical Abstracts has 98% alternative coverage.

You can use the My Electronic Resources by Provider tool to automatically activate the collections.
Therefore this collection will not be added to the CZ.

China Statistical Yearbooks Database from East View Information Services to the Alma CZ.

There was a collection in Alma for Advances in Chemistry Series, but it was deleted in 2022.
We were informed by ACS that they no longer distinguishes their books as Advances in Chemistry and Symposium Series; all books are now under the ACS eBooks collection.
Since we do not receive a separate feed for Advances in Chemistry Series, we cannot maintain such a collection.

Add JSTOR Community College Collection
This is a new package that is being offered starting July 1 2023. See https://about.jstor.org/librarians/journals/jstor-community-colleges-collection/ -- while it comprises distinct collections that are probably already in the CKB, it will be much more convenient for us to order and maintain if it is a distinct CZ collection.

This collection has been included in the KERIS license DB for the university.

Please add collection for open access gaming journals
Many of the journals relating to the subject of "gaming" and "gaming production" are haphazardly categorized in multiple collections. Since this is an emerging field with a high percentage of Open Access titles, I was hoping that you could create a collection (similar to the "freely accessible xyz" collections already in existence) of free/open access gaming titles to collect them in one place. Attached is a list of suggestions

The freely accessible collections are not maintained by Ex Libris as there is no specific provider who takes ownership on these collections.
Similarly, we will not be able to aggregate and sustainably maintain a gaming specific collection since we rely on provider feeds and updates.
You are welcome to create such a collection and contribute it to the Community Zone for the benefit of other community members.

Chapter and contents information is extrememly useful to our users but is often missing from records. We'd like records to be enriched with this information where possible.

History Makers Digital Archive is currently available in the CZ as a database with 0 portfolios. The vendor has MARC records available for download, but this would require our small Technical Services team to download, add, and maintain over 3,000 records manually which is not feasible for us.
Is there a possibility for History Makers to be added as an electronic collection with its associated portfolios to Alma's CZ to improve discovery?
