We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

  2. Add CKB collection -- Elsevier ScienceDirect eBook - Forensics and Security 2016

Could you please add the collection "Elsevier ScienceDirect eBook - Forensics and Security 2016" to Alma CZ?

Corresponding Electronic Collections for most of the 2016 collections we subscribed to can be found in CZ but we cannot find an Electronic Collection for "Elsevier ScienceDirect eBook - Forensics and Security 2016" (which consists of 29 titles).

    Hello all,

We have added this list of collections to our Delivery products.

As for the enrichment request, to add MARC records to the Alma CZ, at this time we have not reached an agreement with the provider to enable us to move forward with this project.
That said, we are in high-level management discussions, and should there be any change to this status, we will gladly ingest the provider’s MARC records to enrich the Alma CZ.

    Rael

  5. Add Ebsco subject ebook collections to the CZ

EbscoHost has a number ofsubscribable subject ebook collections that are not present in the CZ. Just as Ebook Central's various subscribable collections (Academic Complete, College Complete, University Press, Reference, Reference Research) are in the CZ as separate collecitons, so should the EbscoHost collections be in there so that they can be activated as a collection, rather than forcing libraries to choose between not providing access to these collection titles at all or acitivating each title one by one in the full EbscoHost ebook collection. EbscoHost book collection. My library specifically needs the EbscoHost Education ebook collection to be added to…

  6. Provide a seamless, timely and automatic workflow for ingesting Jisc KB+ data into the Alma Community Zone.

We subscribe to the majority of our eresource content via nationally negotiated eresource deals (Jisc Collections, WHEEL). Jisc’s KB+ product (https://www.kbplus.ac.uk/kbplus/) maintains a knowledgebase which includes comprehensive title and package information for these EResources.

We would like ExLibris to harvest the KB+ title lists from the KB+ publicly accessible export page (https://www.kbplus.ac.uk/kbplus/publicExport) on a daily basis to ensure that all new and updated title lists in the Alma Community Zone are identical to the title lists in KB+.

We would like ExLibris to identify the KB+ title lists in the Alma Community Zone with a KB+…

    Hello all,

We are very happy to announce that we have released a game-changing API that we worked very closely with KB+ to develop. As part of this API the Ex Libris SFX and Alma products will have an automated process that identifies a new collection by KB+ and automatically creates this new collection in the system, as well as setting up the ongoing updates.
This development took us several months and extensive collaboration with the KB+ team. We have completed testing and plan to monitor this process over the coming months when new collections become available, with an expected turnaround of up to two weeks.

    Best,
    Rael

  7. Updating the ‘University Press Scholarship Online’ CZ interface name

Could you please consider updating the Community Zone interface from ‘University Press Scholarship Online’ to ‘Oxford Scholarship Online’. We think it would be clearer and overall more useful for students and staff at institutions using the Community Zone resources. This is used for a numbe rof Oxford Scholarship CZ e-Collections. For example on Collection ID # 61198889130002386.

  9. KnowledgeBase Collection Access to Reprints Desk Journal Titles/Service

Please add access to the Reprints Desk service with lists of journal titles available from RD by article document delivery via Knowledgebase (including SFX).

This would allow library patrons using Primo OneSearch and SFX to link to pay-per-view service. This complements the library holdings as well as interlibrary loan services. Very important feature in this day of great budget constraints -- allows patron to have very quick access and turnaround time. Thanks.

    Hello,

These collections are maintained via automation and updated accordingly.
The “modification date” is a good indication of the last time the title list was updated in our system.

    Thank you,
    Rael

    Hello,

In order to release your votes, I am closing this request as many of these Gale collections have been added over the past months, and we continue to work with Gale to ingest additional collections and content.

    Thank you,

  15. Add Project MUSE ALL ebook collection to Community Zone

The Alma Community Zone knowledge base doesn't include a collection for all Project MUSE ebooks regardless of package/year (nearly 50,000 titles).

It's available as a KBART file on the MUSE website and I believe it's regularly updated: https://muse.jhu.edu/cgi-bin/build_kbart_file.cgi?type=book&collectionID=all

Could you please add this to the CZ?

    Thank you.

  17. Brepolis Databases

Brepols Publishers is an international academic publisher of works in the humanities. The focus of its publications lies in "source-works" from Antiquity, the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period. By this is meant critical editions of original texts and documents in their original language, reference works such as encyclopaedias, handbooks and bibliographies, as well as monograph studies and cutting-edge research.

The following Brepolis databases (online encyclopedias, handbooks and bibliographies) would significantly enrich the indexes if there were added to Primo Central and Summon:
    - L'Année Philologique
    - Bibliography of British and Irish History
    - International Medieval Bibliography
    - Bibliographie…

  20. Need two CZ Selective Packages for 'Westlaw Thomson Reuters' database

It would be useful to have two Selective Packages for the ‘Westlaw Thomson Reuters’ database. One Selective package for ‘International’ content, and another for ‘US’ content.

At our library we provide a link to each of the two ‘sides’ of the database, as Article Title searches on each ‘side’ produce different results, depending on which ‘side’ the article is found. If an article is in the ‘US’ side, it can be found by an Article Title search on the ‘US’ side, but not on the ‘International’ side (and vice versa). (Journal Title searches allow the journal to be found the…
