← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Please add the second release of Drama Online Core Collection Annual Update 2023 (UK, Commonwealth, Europe) to 360 KB

    Please note that this is the second annual update 2023 for Drama Online Core collection (they have two updates a year). The first annual update 2023 is already on 360KB.

    Bloomsbury advise that they've already supplied the title list and MARC records to discovery partners.

    Also, could you add the MARC records to the title metadata for entries on 360KB for Bloomsbury databases (Drama Online and others)? I noticed that they're not there for the collections I've checked, although Bloomsbury do supply them. Thank you

    The updates have been processed for this Bloomsbury collection.

    Regarding the brief records, it is being updated and the MARCs are used to address these issues.

    We are progressing with Bloomsbury to ensure the records are enriched and updates are processed according to the metadata they send.

    Request to add Mintel Databases: Ecommerce (USA) and Sports & Gaming

    There are currently many collections for Mintel Report subscriptions that include CDI content and portfolios (e.g. Mintel Foodservice: USA, Mintel Household:USA, etc.).

    Can you please consider adding collections (with CDI indexing and portfolios) for the following Mintel Report Subscription options:

    JSTOR offers this collection as a purchasable archive, so having an equivalent database collection in the KB would be very helpful for us. Content includes books, journals, and research reports: https://www.jstor.org/subject/publichealth

    Please consider changing this collection type from a database to a aggregated collection. It is an archive of one journal title, Ebony magazine. Not having the portfolio of Ebony magazine makes discovery challenging for our users because it is appearing in primo as a database and not a journal. The journal/portfolio title should be Ebony magazine archive: 11/01/1945 to 06/01/2014

  13. 360KB: update Bloomsbury's Popular Music collections

    Most of the current Popular Music collections have outdated links on 360KB that don't take users direct to content.

    Bloomsbury have supplied ExLibris with files that have updated links in October, but the collections on 360KB haven't been updated.

    This applies to:
    the launch collection (AEVBJ)
    the 2019 update (AHMCD)
    the 2020 update (ABFDS)
    the 2021 update (AEAPZ)

    The 2022 update (AEVFB) and 2023 update (ACQFV) appear to have the correct links on 360KB.

    Please add "Critical Studies and Performance Practice Annual Update 2023" by Bloomsbury to 360 Knowledgebase.

    Bloomsbury notified us in early November that ExLibris have been supplied with the data for this collection, but it hasn't been added to 360KB yet. We also informed Tamar Ganor of this collection on 7 November.

    We are not seeing IET eBook collections for the following years: 2007-2012, 2016-2020. I was able to activate collections for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2021, 2022, & 2023.

    Can you please add the missing frontlist collections for the years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020?

  19. Add Big Ten Open Books collection

    The Big Ten Academic Alliance (a consortium of major U.S. libraries, of which Rutgers is a member) has released an ebook collection called Big Ten Open Ebooks (https://www.fulcrum.org/bigten) on the Fulcrum platform, the University of Michigan's ebook platform. Several collections from University of Michigan's Fulcrum platform are already in the CZ, including ACLS Humanities Ebook and University of Michigan Press Ebooks. The University of Michigan manages all the metadata for these old collections and this new collection. Could Ex Libris please work with established provider partner, University of Michigan, to load this new collection?
