← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Hello,

    We have attempted to contact the vendor to address the necessary legal agreements, but have not been able to reach one since a similar request was made last year.

    HeinOnline collections are already available in 360, SFX, and Alma.

    I am closing this Idea, as we have this request pending via additional Ideas on the system as well as internally.

    I am confused why it says "View record in ProQuest (subscribers only)" when clicking on this link does not bring a person primarily to a record, but to a full-text item or resource.

    I was told the text can't be changed in a Primo Code Table, or a Normalization rule set, because Primo Central records are normalized in the Primo Central back office, and cannot be edited.

    Please add the unrestricted database, PDR.net to the CZ (Electronic Collection.) The PDR is the most recognized drug information reference source in the U.S.

    This will result in a collection with title lists of BULK::Bulk linking method, therefore will not be resolving to article level.

    I would suggest to create such a collection locally for your internal purposes.

    Please can the bib record portfolios for this Community Zone collection be enriched, some of them are incredibly poor and scant.
    We have received complaints from some of our users and librarians about the lack of bibliographic information in these ebook records.

    An example of a brief record is "The adventures of Roderick Random" MMS ID 993360000000079640
    There is no author, publisher, publication date, isbn, only a partial title.

    ProQuest's Modern Archive product (by subject area) has different coverage dates than the Classic Archive product. Currently, options in the Alma CZ cover only Classic Archive dates.

    I see that the World Meteorological Organization (database code IMU) has only 4 titles indexed in Summon. I'd like to suggest adding more titles from their large collection (https://library.wmo.int/), as we have many clients interested in WMO publications

    There are several hybrid OA journals - meaning that only some articles are Open Access and most are behind a paywall - in the portfolio ELSEVIERSCIENCEDIRECTOPENACCESSJOURNALS-getFullTxt . Since these are not freely available cover-to-cover, it would be more appropriate to put these in a new service ELSEVIERSCIENCEDIRECTOPENACCESSJOURNALS-getSelectedFullTxt

    I could not find the following collections my college library subscribes to in the Alternative coverage list:
