  1. Add Unpaywall database to the Summon index

Unpaywall is a service which harvests Open Access content directly from over 50,000 repositories. It's rapidly becoming the leading source of information about legal OA content across the web.

Unpaywall offer a 'database snapshot', a complete dump of everything we know about every Open Access DOI that exists.

I think it would be a great idea for Summon to incorporate this data in its index. It would allow a much greater level of direct linking to Open Access content for all Summon users.

(It's already possible to integrate Unpaywall's API with 360link for individual, article-by-article requests.)

  2. Configuring a ‘Collection Discovery’ search in Summon

Unlike Primo customers, Summon users cannot navigate to the Collections Lobby to find items available as part of Alma Collections unless they click into the details page of a record and scroll down to the bottom where they are presented with the ‘see more from *** collection’. A simple search in Summon is searching within everything we have in Alma (and published to Summon) - so individual titles are appearing in the results. But the collection names are not searchable. Summon is not able to provide a similar "Collection Discovery" search to Primo. Summon' s design is not based on…

  3. Make Unpaywall a trackable database in Summon

Include Unpaywall as a standalone, discoverable and trackable database within the client centre. This would then remove the dependency on other databases that include OA content having been tracked in the Client Centre from Unpaywall linking and, therefore, discoverability in Summon.

  4. Request to send monthly maintenance notices a little earlier

It seems that maintenance for Summon or 360 Link is done every month, but maintenance notices are sent a few days in advance.
If it is a few days in advance, the library may not be able to notify users in time.

It would be appreciated if you could send out the notice a little earlier, or at least the week before, so that users can be notified in plenty of time.
If there is a fixed maintenance day, such as the 3rd Saturday or 3rd Sunday of each month, please let us know.

  5. Improve handling of duplicates with common titles

Currently, Summon prevents certain common titles from participating in the match & merge process if they are on the "Bad titles" list or the reach a certain count in the "Overmatch" algorithm. This process should be improved so that "real" titles are allowed to merge.

  6. Merge Reference & Newsletter Types

Often we will see duplicate records because one is labeled Reference and the other is labeled e-book, or one is labeled an Article and the other is labeled a Newsletter. Allow multiple categories on a record and merge them.
