  1. Cite It support for Browns Books

Please could you add Browns Books (https://www.brownsbfs.co.uk) as a supported website for Cite It? It is one of our main book suppliers in the UK, and it would be helpful to be able to cite books directly from their website.

  2. Request to have two different messages for lists in draft status and lists that have not yet been created

We have concerns regarding the error message displayed when someone attempts to access a list.
A single general message may not adequately address all situations.
We believe that having two distinct messages—one for lists in draft status and another for lists that have not yet been created—would help both students and instructors better understand the next steps they should take. Additionally, requesting a login for students when a list is in draft status could cause unnecessary confusion.
A login should only be required for instructors who want to fill in the list.
It is crucial for users and librarians to…

  3. Export all page ranges

The number of page range fields in Leganto from book chapters and extracts went from 2 to 10.
However, not all of them are exported to for example Word and PDF.

This missing information is an issue, both for students who decide to print the list, or non library staff who may use the Word/PDF version as a work document (in-house printing services, campus book shop).

We would like all the additional page range fields to be exported. The way these are presented in the full display (all in one field) is satisfactory.

  4. Export Leganto reading lists as PDF: add tags to the PDF for better accessibility

An accessible PDF must include document structure tags, which describe the logical and semantic structure of a document. This is important for screen readers and other assertive technologies to interpret and reproduce the content correctly.
Unfortunately, when a Leganto reading list is exported as PDF, the PDF does not include document structure tags. We hope that tags can be added and thus Leganto reading lists become accessible as PDFs too.

  5. Highlight Open Access and peer reviewed material on reading lists with the Primo logos

Students and staff can see the Open Access logo and the peer view logo in Primo but they can't see the logos on the same resource once it's been added to Leganto. Please enable libraries to choose whether these logos can be pulled into Leganto with the resource details. The University of Sheffield is doing some work around open resources and promoting OER and it would be good to be able to highlight open resources on the reading list for students and staff. I hope the picture helps.

  6. Add purchase request to «Library Services”

At our institution, the instructors have difficulties figuring out how to make a purchase request. We use Leganto questions to make it easier for them, but this works only for some of the ways you can add items in Leganto. Our users assume that the purchase request is in the same location as the digitization request, i.e. under “Library Services” in the “Item actions” tab and as prominent link when the brief view of a citation is open (see print screen), but without instructions it does not occur to them that they have to set a tag for the purchase…

  7. Customise DCS tags

The DCS is the UK's digital content store.
Currently the wording on DCS tags in Leganto is hardcoded. We would like the wording on these tags to be customisable.

Use case - when a digitisation request is placed in Leganto a 'Digitisation in Progress' tag is displayed in Leganto. This can be misleading to instructors as the digitised request may not be covered by the CLA licence and the wording implies the library is working on the digitisation. A much better wording on this tag is 'Digitisation Requested'.

  8. Enable customization of new edition tag

Use case: a librarian identifies an open textbook, or other title that would make a good replacement since an ebook of the prescribed text cannot be obtained. This is NOT a new edition of the title, but the functionality can be used to good effect in this scenario.

There are other scenarios for using the new edition functionality where the system tag "New edition" is not meaningful. We would like to customise it to something like "Alternative Suggested"

The notifications labels for this are customisable so it makes sense that the tag should be customisable too.

    Case: 06705050

  10. Accessibility for Digital Items on Course Reserves

Currently we are only able to add one file to a single citation. We would like to provide all the alternative electronic formats for scanned articles and book chapters to make sure that our electronic resources are more accessible. We have been testing with the Blackboard Ally program, which produces alternative electronic files of the following types: OCRedPDF, Tagged PDF, Audio, HTML, Electronic Braille, ePub and Beeline Reader. Another option for the future could be Leganto automatically making those file types available once you attach a scanned document. The file transforming tool we are currently using is at https://ally.ac/covid19/ .

We will support this idea in 2026. Previously we closed it because of copyright implications, but we will support uploading multiple formats/versions of the same resource with the assumption that the copyright record applies to all files.

  11. Automatically set Open Access citations to complete

I'd like to propose a new functionality enabling citations that are open access to be set to "complete" (semi-)automatically.

Having to go through all open citations and checking each for possible open access is a cumbersome and time consuming effort we (the library) would like to simplify.

An "[ ] Open Access" checkbox within the Add Item menu, the citation and for Cite It! would enable instructors to do so themselves with little additional work on their side.

  12. Notify when a title (esp. electronic portfolio) chosen in a Leganto reading list is deleted in Alma

Especially when dealing with electronic titles, for example when importing them, Alma may delete some portfolios.
However, researchers may have previously selected these portfolios for their Leganto reading list. But nobody would notice that, until the students find a broken link in Leganto.

To avoid that right now we perform a manual check, relying on an Analysis looking for Electronic Titles selected for reading lists before running the import, and comparing that with the list of deleted portfolio we have when the import is finished. It's however time consuming.

It would be much better to get a notification when the…
