How can we improve campusM?

  1. Allow the side navigation to display on Mobile

    As a student, I would like to be able to access the side navigation on mobile so that I can have a seamless experience across both web and mobile

    This is intended for any user and allows a user to access the side navigation on mobile in a familiar format to the side navigation on the web. The familiarity allows users to find what they're looking for without needing to know the name of content and using the search feature.

    I'm imagining a similar swipe feature to the 'recents' menu which is accessible when swiping from the left on android.

  2. One time code - earlier tutor access

    For attendance one time codes to be available to tutors 48 hours before the class. We are getting a lot of pushback from academics who each the first hour of the day and they are struggling to get the one time code alongside everything else they have to do

  3. Ad-Hoc Tile Resize

    After a series of focus groups with approximately 20 students, a common request was for the ability to resize tiles (width/height) themselves. Currently tile size is statically configured from the admin side, but students would like ability to resize certain tiles in an ad-hoc manner depending on what they personally prioritize (more specifically than what is determined by role).

  5. Ability for Users to create their own tiles

    We would like to provide our users the ability to create their own tiles. We believe this would make this portal/app experience more powerful and sticky. This would also keep the administrators from having to create and maintain links for individual desires vs enterprise needs.

  6. Choose animation type for banner tile

    Currently, there is only one animation type for the banner tile: a slide animation with an elastic ease-in-out easing function. It would be nice to have multiple easing functions to choose from for the slide animation (https://easings.net/) as well as other options such as a crossfade or fade-in-out animation.

  7. Integrated Search

    Since our product has launched we have been receiving positive feedback of the search capabilities. Many across the community really like the power of the search, which is a real selling point for adoption. We would like to have the search box more front-and-center to showcase this wonderful feature.

    Some members have also commented that on the computer verson of our campusM portal, the search feature is buried within the drop down menu to the right hand corner.

    We propose a UI change to make the search always visible inside the web view, I believe this would be a beneficial…

  8. Notifications - Transform message to audio file alongside original text

    Just having a discussion around the possibility for students to choose to listen to the content of any notifications rather than read them. Perhaps especially helpful for the quick change to rooms and emergency situations.

    Students usually have their earbuds in and a ping and voice message (even computer generated) may be a better option for the situation rather than having to pull the phone-out and retrieve /read the message.

  9. Take photo of Student at time of check in

    As an admin, I want a setting that allows me to turn on ' take student photo' . This will then require the student to take a head shot when marking attendance

  10. Product Integration (Events) - Improvements

    Currently you have to select an initial filter (if enabled), then a date and campus filter (if enabled) to view events. It would be better if the date was not mandatory to display events - but as a date filter within the list of events.

    The current search functionality within events is limited to the filter(s) and date selected. An improvement for this would be to allow searching across all filters and dates.

    Lastly, the event list and event details views could be improved:

    Events list - in addition to the current information displayed it would be good to also…

  11. Attendance Check-in: Check-in not required not visible on check-in screen

    If Attendance Exclude flag deems attendance at a class is not required. This should be reflected on the Check-in screen. Currently the only way a student knows a check-in is not required is on history tab.

    Either student should not be able to check-in if not required to, or check-in not required should be displayed on check-in screen.

    Note: also currently records check-in as invalid when checking in to a class where check-in not required.

  12. Allow setting tile order for each device

    Allow users to set the tile order by device. The default tile order can still be controlled by the algorithm, but give users the option to override the default and set their own tile order. The algorithm is too unpredictable.

  14. Lecturer View of attendance history by student

    Currently Lecturer needs to go into each class to view a students history. It would be very useful to also provide a view by student, so they can see an individual students history in one view.

  15. Improve the platform accessibility

    Allow people with disabilities to use the website via such means as:
    - navigation without the mouse
    - high-contrast-mode support
    - provide text alternatives for images
    - disabled CSS support

  16. Personalised Service Outage Page

    The error page that is displayed to students in the event of a Service Outage needs some work to make it useful (if this ever happens again).

    If possible it would be more useful to have a University branded page that provides our students direct links into our core underlying applications ..... such as LMS, Student Management System, LCS and also contact details for our Service Desk.

    The message that the service is currently available with no other calls to action or options was not helpful to the student population.

  17. Add sitemap.xml file to root domain

    Have the ability to add an XML-formatted sitemap to the relevant site's root domain, e.g. institution-beta.ombiel.co.uk/sitemap.xml. This will allow the beta version (or which ever version of the app you add the sitemap to) of our app to be crawled and audited for accessibility adherence.

  18. Show location of next activity/lecture on timetable live tile

    As well as lecture title and time, show the lecture location on the live tile for timetable - this way students may be able to attend the upcoming lecture/event with only the glance from the home screen.

  19. Ablity to use an image as the app or profile background

    Currently you can only specify solid colour as app or profile background. We would like to use a subtle image or at very least a gradient.
