1. Campus Activated Subscriber Access for better off-campus and mobile access to full text

   Google Scholar is rolling out a programme with publishers for easier access to full-text subscription content. They call this Campus Activated Subscriber Access (CASA). The description from the latest press release says "CASA makes note of a user’s institutional affiliation when they access content from an authorized on-campus location, and then enables continued access to their library’s journal and book holdings from home or when using a device not connected to the institution’s network".

   The way this could work with Primo is by setting a cookie on the user's device when they are on campus and access Primo. If their next access to Primo was from an off-campus IP address from the same device, the cookie would still be transmitted to Primo and, providing it was within a reasonable expiry time (to cater for the fact that students leave the university), Primo could give the user the full on-campus search experience without requiring the user to log in.

   Google Scholar then presumably passes the institutional affiliation through to the publisher via something in the URL or perhaps the referring URL -- this will need further exploration. There is no technical reason why Primo and the link resolver could not operate in the same way with publishers that are prepared to offer this unauthenticated route for Google Scholar users.

   I suppose that Google may store the institutional affiliation details in the user's Google account, if they are signed in to a Google account on their browser, when using the device on campus, and thus it would be possible for Google to provide the institutional affiliation to the publisher even if the user was then accessing off-campus on a completely different device. This level of convenience for the user would be harder to achieve in Primo, given that Google gives users many reasons to open an account and stay logged into it. But could Primo, if the user was on campus or signed into Primo off-campus, give the user the opportunity of associating themselves with a Google account, that Primo could then check when the user is off campus and on a different device?

2. Add filter to eliminate items already pinned from search results

   Provide a filter that would eliminate items that are already 'pinned' from the search results so that when people have many items pinned and they search on their topic, they have the ability to view only the items they haven't already pinned.
   (Our graduate students really like the pinning feature.)

3. Actions - email record function - Please give indication an email has been sent

   When emailing a record (via Actions - email ) it would be great if there was some indication that an email was sent. We often get several emailed records from clients regarding the same item – and one has mentioned it would be great to know it’s been successfully sent. Currently the pop box for entering email details just disappears once submitted.

4. Cutting and Pasting Search Strategies following a PRIMO search

   As a reference librarian, I regularly include a copy of a my strategy with a hypertext link to the search in an email or Google Doc. There is a nice summary of the strategy above the search in PRIMO, but I can't copy it well; it needs a lot of editing if pasted.

   In my search history, it is a hyper-link and when I highlight it to copy, it tends to re-run the link.

   The alternatives are too share a link (the links too searches are too long -- a short link may work) or to do a screen capture (takes multiple steps and is not as useful).

   In sum: it would be nice if I could readily copy the search strategy on the screen that appears above my search results as it appears.

5. Is there anyway that all holdings can be displayed in a "paragraph" format, instead of a line-by-line format.

   At present time, Primo displays some holdings records in "paragraph" format, and others in line-by-line format. This is inconsistent, and makes the catalog appear sloppy. When items are in the line-by-line format it becomes time consuming to have to scroll down to find out if an institution holds an item. It would be much better for all holdings to appear in the "paragraph" format and this would then give a much needed consistency to the catalog.

6. Sort loans by "Due date--earliest" and "Due date--latest"

   Under the “loans” section in Primo user accounts, two of the most important sort options are labelled “Due date--newest” and “Due date--oldest”.

   “New” and “old” isn't how folks usually describe due dates (correct me if I'm wrong). Rather, you talk about what's due sooner/earlier and what's due later.

   Could Primo either allow institutions to customise the labels, or relabel the sorting options as “Due date--earliest” and “Due date--latest”, or some such contrast (closest/farthest)?

7. Add autocomplete to embedded search tile/box

   When setting up a Primo search tile or search box to embed in a library's website it would be great if it were possible to enable autocomplete in the embedded search box/tile so that it works the same way as it does in the Primo interface.

   This would help library users enormously.

8. Sort date of FRBR groups in date-sorted results lists

   When sorting a brief results list by date, obviously always the sort date of the earliest member of a FRBR group is taken to represent the whole group. We would expect that in sort order "year (ascending)" the publication date of the earliest member record is taken, and in sort order "year (descending)" the publication date of the latest member.

9. Add citation capabilities to the email function

   The email and citation functions should not be exclusive of each other. Users are used to emailing themselves citations from databases and other library systems. Please add citation capabilities to the email function, so that a citation can be included in the email sent.

10. Ability to sort/filter according to item status within the new user interface

    When viewing holdings of a physical record in the full record display of the new Primo UI only five items/copies display by default. If a client would like to view all copies they have to click the "Show more items" link. We have received feedback that clients often do not use or even see the “Show more items” link and tend to only look at the status of the five copies that are displayed by default rather then click through to view all copies. This becomes problematic when all five copies that display on the full record by default are unavailable but copies further down the list (and therefore behind the “Show more items” link) are available.
    
    The display order of item records in Primo is the same order in which they appear on the Alma record. Although we can sort them within Alma according to Library/Location and an alpha sort, from a user perspective it would be helpful if they had the ability to apply a filter/sort to the holdings information in the full record display which filtered or sorted items according to their status/process type. This will allow users to quickly view available items when needed without the need to view all copies and scan through unavailable holdings.

    The display order of these item records in Primo is the same order in which they appear in the Alma record. From a user perspective rather then having to look through the attached item records it would be handy the user had the ability to sort/filter items according to the status of the itemwith available items displaying first in the list, then on loan items, then items with other statuses such as missing/lost etc

11. Allow combining of facets in the search results

    Please create a way to view multiple physical library locations using the facets on the results page (e.g., see attached - General Collection and General Collection Oversize). Most electronic databases allows the user to hold down the CRTL key and select multiples, but that doesn't work in Primo. The 'Exclude' feature is nice, but it would be fabulous if Ex Libris could add an 'Include' feature. Please?

12. Dynamically replace spaces with underscores in Primo generated URLs

    Currently, URLs generated while using Primo can result in broken URLs based on the presence of spaces in information such as library names. A good solution would be to program Primo to dynamically replace spaces with underscores, resulting in non-broken URLs when doing things like copy/pasting into an email.

13. Make Title Search in Journals A-Z Left-Anchored

    When we search for a title such as "Science" or "Nature" in the current A-Z journal list, the search is not left-anchored and thus finding titles of this kind involves scrolling through several pages of results.

14. Remove or de-emphasize reference entries in Primo Central results

    I was told by someone at Ex Libris that the only way to get rid of "Reference entries" (such as a single word definitions from a dictionary, or an encyclopedia entry) showing up at the top of search results, would be to de-activate the subscription to the source item (the dictionary).

    This is upsetting. If you happen to subscribe to several encyclopedias and dictionaries that reference a term, the "Reference Entry" items multiply and crowd out the books and articles, which is probably what users are searching for.

    We should be able to set the results ranking level for these types of content - to suppress them from view altogether, allow only one entry to appear in the first 10 results (at, say, position 5), or drop their preference significantly. While still having the encyclopedias and dictionaries activated for our users to use.

15. Primo - My Account : Differentiate normal loans & reading room loans

    We would like it to be clear for a patron which loans he has at home and which loans are in the reading room. Currently in Primo, there is no differentiation between the two. Is there some way to do this in Alma and or Primo? Thanks

16. Improve Misleading Links/Terminology in Results

    The prominent "Use Get It To Request" link on results with multiple versions, in the case where another version is an immediately available local copy, is not a good thing to have displayed.

    We have also noticed the new interface offers direct "Online access" links from the results page (even with direct linking deactivated) which arbitrarily lead to what can be one of several possible destinations, each with different date coverage ranges. So in the case of embargoed content, for example, a user can be misled to think current access is unavailable.

17. configure the order of the holdings records in the GetIt tab

    It would be very useful to have an option to configure the order of the holdings records to be displayed in Primo (e.g. according to the loan period) as opposed to the current situation where the order is random.

    There is no plan to support the sort by loan period, recently we have added option to custom your own order of locations - see the "Get It - Custom Order of Locations" in the release notes. We are closing this idea to release your votes.

18. Sliding publication date range bar option

    At the moment in Primo the publication date filter gives you only the option to retype the year or to use the up and down arrows. We would like to see something similar to the option in Summon where you have a slider bar which you can drag across to reduce the date range ie: 2006-2017

20. Expand quick in-browser "citation" styles to match those in Summon "cite this item"

    Expand the quick in-browser "citation" tool to have the same expanded styles list available in the Summon "cite this item" tool.

    Allow sites to include their own local styles through the administration back end.

    Undergraduate students, particularly 1st years, often want to be able to just grad a quick citation from the interface in the style they need, not have to deal with Endnote or one of the other reference management tools.
