Empower Users to Continue Access to Data Post-Graduation
Logging in using institutional Shibboleth is easiest for the majority of users. However, this method of authentication only works so long as they continue their institutional affiliation. Please design a way for users to select their login preferences after the initial account creation, in order to offer users the option to change their sign-in to an email address and password of their choice. This will help them continue access post-graduation, which is particularly important for graduate students.
1 voteAlready Supported · AdminShalhevet Bar-Asher (VP, Research Information Management, Ex Libris) respondedIn the login screen users can log in with their email and password or by selecting their institution from the drop down list (Shibboleth). If they left the institution they should simply use their email and password (defined when they initially created the account). They can change the email address associated with their account under Settings (to a non-institutional email), and if they forgot the password they originally defined they can click on Forgot Password.

Search Using Keywords
When an article is read through the refworks, currently keywords cannot be searched nor highlighted. Currently, the paper should be downloaded to the computer and then searched using Ctrl+F. It would be great, to have this option in refworks itself.
1 voteAlready Supported · AdminShalhevet Bar-Asher (VP, Research Information Management, Ex Libris) respondedWhen viewing an attachment in RefWorks (by pressing on Read in the preview pane) words can be highlighted and annotations can be made.
When using the RefWorks search bar (in the top tool bar, to the right of Tools), it searches in the attachment and in the annotations. -
Share references with other projects (under the same account)
I need to share references with different projects and there is no way to do that. Please advise or add that feature. Thanks!
4 votesAlready Supported · AdminShalhevet Bar-Asher (VP, Research Information Management, Ex Libris) respondedTo move/copy references between projects, export the references from the initial project where they are placed and import them into the other project(s), or use sharing. See more details in the “To move references from one project to another:” section here: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/RefWorks/Product_Documentation/RefWorks_User_Guide/0400_Managing_References#Working_with_Projects

'Create a new account' when linking to New RefWorks for the first time from a search tool (Google Scholar, Primo etc)?
From Google Scholar, Primo etc, when you click on the RefWorks link next to each search record, it takes you to the following page:
https://refworks.proquest.com/combined-export/?groupcode=RWMiddlesexU&detoken=XBLgJo9sJFPnYg1wJ%5B44
If you then select to export to the New Refworks, you are taken to the following page:
https://refworks.proquest.com/login/
However, this is problematic, as it does not offer the opportunity to 'Create a new Account'.
We think that users should be directed to the following URL instead: https://refworks.proquest.com/
10 votesLogin page defaults to user's account for export, if already logged in. Login page also offers create account link in the same way as https://refworks.proquest.com/

Add notes onto references.
It would be useful if you could add notes onto your reference as to the themes or something you want to touch on in your work. Tags and folders just aren't quite enough.
3 votesAlready Supported · AdminShalhevet Bar-Asher (VP, Research Information Management, Ex Libris) respondedYou can create a custom field and enter reference notes into that field.

DOI search function
Under "Add Reference" Have a space to quickly input the DOI and find article based on that. Currently, there is a space to add that modifier under the Save to Refworks function, but all I continually get is "service is unavailable".
6 votesAlready Supported · AdminShalhevet Bar-Asher (VP, Research Information Management, Ex Libris) respondedIf the DOI field does not appear in the reference pane, click on “Add more fields…” and add the field. After entering all or part of the DOI, you can click on the lightning bolt icon to find possible matches.

Google Docs Tool -- Add the ability to include page numbers as part of the in-text citation
In APA if you are using a direct quote one should include the page number(s) as part of the in-text citation. In the Google docs tool, there is a space for adding page numbers for that very reason, but it's grayed out and unusable.
Our students primarily use Google docs for their writing so this would be super helpful.
14 votesAlready Supported · AdminShalhevet Bar-Asher (VP, Research Information Management, Ex Libris) respondedAPA 7th in-text citations do not include page numbers, unless there is a direct quote. Therefore the pages option is grayed out when selecting APA 7th. It is available for styles that include page numbers, such as MLA 7th Edition. There are two workarounds that allow editing page numbers when the style does not require them:
- Create a custom style with pages included and share it as an institutional style. For details refer to this section of the RefWorks Customer Knowledge Center: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/RefWorks/Product_Documentation/RefWorks_User_Guide/0900_Managing_Citation_Styles#Editing_Non-CSL_Citation_Styles. Note that this style would then apply to all in-text citations in the document, whether they are direct quote or not.
- Use the required APA 7th style and add page numbers manually for direct quotes only. -
Please please please make it possible to remove individual references from the last important folder!
Now that it is possible to import new references into RefWorks without them going to the "Not in folder"-status, I would really like to be able to go through the last imported folder at my own pace, move references to folders and remove those from the Last imported folder. At the moment I'm working with a researcher so that I do the searches and import references into RefWorks, and she goes through the results and sorts them when she has time.
I think it's really inconvenient that you have to clear all at once. Please, please, could you activate the…

Stating the obvious
I need to use your site to create references for online webpages, and it does not have an option to do so. There is no box to insert the url. Your site only allows us to either create references for documents like pdf files we find online and dowload, or those from the school database, most of which already have references listed in the description section.
1 voteAlready Supported · AdminShalhevet Bar-Asher (VP, Research Information Management, Ex Libris) respondedAs noted in the comment, a url can be inserted when choosing the Web Page reference type. In addition you can use the Save to RefWorks plug-in to create a reference from a website.

Small Caps
Some citation styles require small caps, yet there is no mechanism within RefWorks to generate them. This is problematic.
