← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Hello,

    According to Westlaw, Westlaw Precision is just an added functionality on top of Westlaw Edge. So, there wouldn’t be any additional content files.

    The provider suggested activating Westlaw Edge for the content.

  3. Newsbank 'America's News' - article level / CDI

    Rather than provide a webhook for 'America's News,' I am hoping ExL can enable article level linking in the way it has done for EBSCOhost Newspaper Source Plus. I assume this is done via CDI.

    Unfortunately, this is not something we can develop at this time due to the massive amount of content that is required to index from Newsbank.

    For Ebsco we have coverage from alternative sources, it is not a webhook solution.

  4. BBC Monitoring indexed into Alma Community Zone

    We have the Database entry for BBC Monitoring (ISSN 1350-8229) but could benefit from in-depth indexing of the type of content available to help unearth title level material.

  6. Brepolis Library of Latin Texts [formerly Library of Latin Texts A, B]

    Requesting CZ content for Brepolis Library of Latin Texts [formerly Library of Latin Texts A and B, merged by provider in 2021].

    Library of Latin Texts A [collection ID: 613790000000000926) and Library of Latin Texts B [collection ID: 613790000000000922) contain outdated links and have not been updated since 2021. Metadata for both was poorer quality than what was supplied by vendor.

    A customer-contributed collection (Univ. of Western Australia) for Library of Latin Texts (collection ID: 61665968760007861) results in errors for about 100 records upon activation.

    Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain an enrichment agreement with Brepols.

    Therefore we will not be able to enrich their collections.

    All bibliographic records for KU Open Research Library contain the minimum of information, except for those titles that overlap with DOAJ and other OA collections. Can these bib records be enhanced, please?

  9. Include all content type on CIAO platform

    There is content on the CIAO platform besides journals and books. Content includes videos, research papers, policy briefs, working papers, country data and maps, etc. These do not appear to have individual portfolios. Could portfolios be created for these items to aid discovery?
