← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Unfortunately, after multiple attempts, we were unable to receive a response from the provider.

    Therefore we cannot add the metadata to CDI.

    Hello,

    "ひつじ研究叢書" is series title and the provider 丸善 is introducing it for sale or for marketing.

    You do not have to buy all the titles of the series, so there is no need in a new collection.

    Please select the relevant titles in 360, SFX, and Alma Marurzen Ebook Library (DBID:MOSFZ), and activate according to your agreement with Maruzen.

    Therefore we will not add this to CDI.

  5. Create new/separate automatic holdings collections for Taylor & Francis

    I'd love to make use of the new Taylor & Francis automatic holdings feature, but the collections it points to are collections that we are already using. For certain providers, I prefer to use automatic holdings as a "back-up" to my own management. The "Taylor & Francis eBooks Complete" is the collection that the GOBI API uses. I'm also already using the "Taylor & Francis Current Content Access" for another reason. Springer and Wiley both have separate autoholdings collections. Could separate collections also be created for Taylor & Francis? Thanks!

    For newer integrations, we will create new autoholdings dedicated collections.

    However, this integration has already been deployed long ago, so any change will cause issues to customers who use it.

    Therefore, we will not be making this change.

  7. Add "J-DAC" [丸善株式会社 (Maruzen Co., Ltd.)] to CDI

    "J-DAC" (https://j-dac.jp/) is a Japanese service that provides access to multiple databases of historical and rare materials. Provider of this service is "丸善株式会社 (Maruzen Co., Ltd.)" and it already exists in KB.

    We would like the individual databases covered by this service to be included in CDI.

    We have contacted Maruzen in request to add the missing content.

    The provider is not interested in sending us metadata for these collections.

    Therefore we will not add these to the Knowledge Bases, please maintain them locally.

  8. Add recent titles to Ancient Near East Monographs open access series from SBL

    Database code AFDYK hasn't been updated in the 360 KB in several years and there are new open access titles in the series available from the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL) published between 2019 and 2023: https://www.sbl-site.org/publications/Books_ANEmonographs.aspx

    Our faculty and students have a high interest in these books.

  10. Peeters E-Books

    Alma has already an electronic Collection for Peeters Online Journals.

    Therefore I ask you to add the following three collections to Alma:
    Peeters Online E-Books
    Peeters Online Open Access E-Books
    Peeters Online Series

    You find the necessary content on https://www.peeters-leuven.be/index.php. As it is an existing provider, I suppose that you have already some contact information. On the website I only found very general contact information.

  12. Update Bloomsbury Education and Childhood Studies

    We activated the Education & Childhood Studies CZ collection but are waiting for the CZ collection to be updated to reflect the 2023 autumn update. We set our collection so that new portfolios are automatically updated but the collection doesn't seem to have been updated since 27/09/23. There are currently 189 titles in the collection, the latest creation date being 26/02/2023. My colleague has checked a few of the new titles just for the sake of completeness and although they are in the CZ they aren't in the Education & Childhood Studies collections as yet.

  13. Open Library of Humanities

    It seems Open Library of Humanities, https://www.openlibhums.org/, hasn't updated their title list in the 360 KB since 2020 (last full update was in 2015) (DB code ABAGC).

    Zygon is now part of Open Library of Humanities and we would like to be able to connect our users to it via Summon/360.

  15. Indexing the content directly

    Please consider indexing the content for the title, American Journal of Play. As stated by ex libris in my recent case, "we do not have any providers that can send us records for the 2008 -2011 content of American journal of play." "I checked in CDI and the majority of our records for American journal of play come from ProQuest. ProQuest only has full text and citation coverage starting in 2012. Gale also indexes content from this journal, but they only start indexing content in 2014. With content on EBSCO, we have to rely on alternative coverage, because EBSCO does…

  18. Update MathSciNet CZ collection

    MathSciNet has many more journals in the database than are currently indexed the CZ collection (ID: 613800000000000364). See this list here: https://mathscinet.ams.org/mathscinet/2006/mathscinet/mrcit/journal_list.html Can this collection be reviewed? I think all those journals are available in full-text in the database...
