← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Please consider adding the Chinese Iconography Thesaurus to the community zone. This resource was available in the Brill Online Reference Works collection but has been removed in a CZ update.

    The Chinese Iconography Thesaurus is an open access database hosted and built by Brill and contains 10,000 terms extracted from pre 1900 sources along with images. https://chineseiconography.org/

  7. Add ProQuest Art & Architecture Archive thematic collections

    Please add the ProQuest Art & Architecture Archive Collection thematic collections to the CZ. We subscribe to only the Architecture & Design thematic collection in Art & Architecture Archive.

    As a workaround to provide access to this collection, we have selectively activated only the Architecture & Design titles in Art & Architecture Archive Collection 1 and 2 (CID 61262944400007306, 61262944370007306). This workaround is not ideal for us because new titles added to or titles removed from the thematic collection will not be automatically updated for us, and we will have to maintain the title list ourselves.

    We will not receive a title list to sustain this Encyclopedia as a stand-alone collection.

    Rather, you should activate this as a portfolio within the Brill Online Reference Works collection, Collection ID: 61637768580000041.

  10. Please add a De Gruyter All-Inclusive journals CZ collection

    Please create a "De Gruyter All-Inclusive journals" collection to go with the De Gruyter All-Inclusive journal package.

    We have recently upgraded to the De Gruyter All-Inclusive journal package. I have not been able to locate any collection to correspond to that package. The closest I have found is the "De Gruyter Complete Journal Package 2025". That collection has 339 titles, which is fewer than the 454 titles we will have access to under the De Gruyter all-inclusive package. Can you please add a CZ collection that reflects the complete journal package? Thanks.

    All of these titles are already included in the collection Maruzen eBook Library, Collection ID: 613170000000000306

    Since they are all book titles, we will not create specific collections/databases for these.

    In the future, please open a support ticket to update existing collections, Idea Exchange is for requesting new collections that are not available in the Knowledgebases/CDI.

  15. Add new Hein collection

    We've received an automated message from Hein saying that their new "National Defense University Press Publications" collection has been added to the existing "Military and Government" collection and is available free of charge through our HeinOnline Core subscription. We have the CZ instance for Military and Government (615470000000000459) activated, but I don't see a separate collection for the NDU set. Please (a) confirm that Hein will feed the NDU titles into 615470000000000459 or (b) provide the NDU titles as a separate CZ collection for activation. https://help.heinonline.org/kb/heinonline-database-title-listings/

  20. EBSCO Sage Transforming Nursing Practice eBooks

    To add an electronic collection for the EBSCO hosted Sage Transforming Nursing Practice eBooks, a subscription package that currently has 70 titles.

    69 of these have bib records already on the CZ. However, some of them are a very brief, while some of them have errors (spelling in titles, wrong years, no 100 field etc.)
