← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  10. Possible to index NewsBank's Access World News?

    Hello,

    Here at Philadelphia University, we subscribe to a database called Access World News, a product of NewsBank. However, Access World News is not indexed by Summon, which creates a substantial deficit for our patrons who seek to canvass all of our resources using Summon.

    I am writing to ask if it would be possible for you to index this database.

    Hello all,

    Following our collaboration with NewsBank, we are pleased to announce that you can now enable the discovery of NewsBank content, including Access World News, through Primo and Primo VE.
    By leveraging our recent search webhook enhancement you can provide patrons the opportunity to find and access this valuable content.

    Once you start using the NewsBank search webhook your patrons will be able to use a dedicated search scope to all NewsBank materials, while remaining within the Primo user interface.

  14. Add a new Community Zone Collection for ATLA Plus

    Hi,
    EBSCO has released a new collection ATLA Plus, that combines Catholic Periodicals Index with their more common ATLASerials. As it is techincally a new product, none of our old ATLASerials links work in Primo/uResolver anymore at either the article or journal level.

  17. CZ Collection Request: CARE-CRUI SpringerLink Journals

    The CARE-CRUI italian consortium has agreed with Springer a version of the "SpringerLink Journals" package tailored for the italian universities participating at the consortium.

    This consortium (http://www.crui-risorselettroniche.it/) is the master reference for all the italian universities.

    So the italian Alma customers are in the need of a tailored package in the CZ too: say a "CARE-CRUI SpringerLink Journals" package, similar to other localized packages yet present on the CZ ( i.e. "OhioLINK SpringerLink Journals" package).

    Please note that at now such package does not exist: all the springerlink journals packages available in the CZ have different content than…

  19. Project MUSE open access titles

    Project MUSE has just notified of 500 new open access ebooks. There is an open access collection already, however there is only 7 books in it. ProJect MUSE supply MARC records, could this colletcion please be updated in the CZ?
