← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    OverDrive Ebooks and Audiobooks collection (ID: 61499649300000041) is now available for activation in the Knowledgebases.

  2. Add Perlego collections for the Knowledgebase (Alma CZ)

    Consider to add the Perlego collection to the CZ of Alma.

    The vendor provides an online library of academic resources with over 400,000 titles in several topics.

    Many international publishers are participate in the collection which can be very useful for academic institutions especially for textbooks.

  3. Add ebook titles for EBSCOhost MAS Ultra - School Edition

    In 2019 EBSCO added reference ebook collections to several products. EBSCOhost MAS Ultra - School Edition includes approx 264 ebook titles that are not currently in the Alma CZ electronic collection. Please add these ebook titles to the existing EBSCOhost MAS Ultra – School Edition electronic collection.

  4. Add ebook titles for EBSCOhost MasterFILE Complete

    In 2019 EBSCO added reference ebook collections to several products. EBSCOhost MasterFILE Complete includes approx 779 ebook titles that are not currently in the Alma CZ electronic collection. Please add these ebook titles to the existing EBSCOhost MasterFILE Complete electronic collection.

  5. Add All LWW Health Library eBook Collections

    Journal of School Counseling is located in EBSCO Education Research Complete and Free e-Journals and is not currently indexed/included in CDI. Request that this journal be included.

    The “EBSCOhost Education Research Complete” is available in our Knowledgebases.
    At this time we do not have an agreement with EBSCO to allow us to index their metadata in the CDI, therefore there is alternative coverage for this content.

    This collection is supported in our Knowledgebases as a “database” without titles.
    At this time we do not have an agreement with EBSCO to allow us to index their metadata into the CDI, and therefore this content is supported via alternative coverage.

  11. Use better records for Henry Stewart Talks

    Henry Stewart Talks provides high quality MARC records for their collection at https://hstalks.com/librarian-information/?biosci#nav-marc and claims they're already sending them to ProQuest for inclusion in the Alma CZ (and somehow put a large Primo/Alma logo on this page as a "discovery partner"), however, the actual records in the CZ are very brief records.

    The CZ should include these records (and someone should figure out how they're getting lost if this "partnership" really exists...)

    Hello,

    We have enriched a significant number of the Henry Stewart Talks records, but some are still under review as they are not compatible with any automated process.

    In addition, we are reviewing the NISO standard for audio and visual metadata guidelines which were recently released to improve handling such content.

    Seeking a selective package listing all streaming videos on offer through Psychotherapy.net. According to Psychotheraphy.net, they have already provided content to ExLibris in order to add portfolios.

    The Psychotherapy.net content is supported in both our Delivery products and CDI for best results.
    Based on the provider ability to supply title lists some collections are managed as “databases” and associated to the relevant CDI collection for discoverability.

  19. Open Textbook Catalog: Please use direct feed of MARC records from https://open.umn.edu/opentextbooks/discovery

    In the CZ there is an existing collection (613790000000001601) for the Open Textbook Catalog.

    Compared to the MARC records available at https://open.umn.edu/opentextbooks/discovery the CZ collection has fewer titles (651 vs 766 as of 07/13/2020).

    Also the CZ bibliographic records are extremely brief and usually have nothing more than a title in the 245 field. The bib records from open.umn.edu are fuller with author, title, publisher, content and summary notes and subject headings.

    This request is to ask Exlibris to use the publicly available MARC bib records from the open.umn.edu website to enhance the existing CZ collection.

    The Policy database was announced in March 2019, from the Analysis & Policy Observatory https://apo.org.au/page/about-apo. It is an open access grey literature repository, hosted by Swinburne and made available via Informit.
