← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  7. "Release 1", "Release 2" and "Release 3" collections for IOP Publishing Content in Primo, Alma, Summon

    Hi,
    Please could you create these collections for IOP Publishing Ebooks. This is because of Library demand:

    IOP Release 1
    IOP Release 2
    IOP Release 3
    IOP All Releases

    This is because we sell books in chronological collections as well as subject (Concise Physics, Expanding Physics) collections.

    For example, "Release 1" will be a mixture of Expanding Physics and Concise Physics books that were published between 2014 and 2015.

    The existing MARC records have a "release" tag but you can also find the data here

  14. Docuseek2 collections on the native platform

    Docuseek2 Collections (native platform)

    Please create e-collections with portfolios for the Docuseek2 Collections, including their Complete Collection, Essential Collection, and subject collections, along with a Selective collection to help us manage EBA collections.

    Docuseek2 has MARC records they may be willing to provide. When I last spoke with their representative, they were unfamiliar with the process of working with Ex Libris but definitely open to the idea.

    Please add database "Journal of Urology" which is provided by American Urological Association to Summon/360 KB. We can subscribe all of the issues if we have the journal published by not Ovid but American Urological Association.

  17. CSIRO eBook collections in the community zone

    CSIRO have their eBook collections on a new platform (Highwire) and they have MARC records for each yearly collection with fresh links for this platform (see attached MARC records). There are two existing CSIRO collections in the CZ (Archive and 2012) which perhaps just need a refresher. Attached are the MARC records for our local collections as an example. Cheers

  18. Add title-level records to the CZ electronic collection RIPM with Full Text (on EBSCOhost)

    RIPM (Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals) recently moved to EBSCOhost but there isn't a CZ electronic collection with title-level access, only a database collection. I propose that the titles be added.

  20. Add Films on Demand's Feature Films for Education collection to Alma's CZ.

    Please add the Feature Films for Education collection from Infobase to the CZ in Alma. It currently has over 600 portfolios and should not be added as a database (as many of the current FoD collections are).
