← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  6. Add e-books Elgar Collex (France)

    University Paris-Dauphine has negociated a collection of 27 e-Books of Elgar in economics and management thanks to Collex Funds (French Ministery of Higher Education and Research). All of French IPs can access the collection. All of ISTEX's members can have a remote access.

  12. Index Feature Films for Education (Infobase) in Summon

    Feature Films for Education is a streaming video database from Infobase, but it has a separate portal from Films on Demand and can only be searched on its own. Including those results in Summon will greatly improve students' chances of finding what they're actually looking for.

  13. Wiley 2018 subject collections

    Subject collections for all years (including 2019!) are available in Alma's CZ, however only the cumulative frontlist is available for 2018. Wiley says this information was submitted to ExLibris "awhile back."

  14. CLASCO AND JSTOR OPEN ACCESS E-BOOKS

    CLASCO have already released 100 OA books with JSTOR, and will release another 100 by the end of 2019.

  15. NSTL Archive Journals Complete Collection

    We hope that there is a NSTLARCHIVECOMPLETE collection which combines all the NSTL archive collections currently in Alma and SFX KB. And we found that there is no NSTL Oxford archive journal title list, so can you also add it into the complete collection?

  17. Please add a database type eCollection for "Birds of the World."

    "Birds of North America" by Cornell University is being replaced by "Birds of the World." It would be nice to have a CZ record for the database type eCollection.
