← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Please add this collection to the KnowledgeBase.

    Journals in the HeinOnline Law Journal Library collection typically have a one year embargo. Libraries may subscribe to the most recent content of individual journals (with no embargo) through Hein's "Current Content" program. This is similar to JSTOR's Current Scholarship program. Could Ex Libris work with Hein to create and manage a HeinOnline Current Content electronic collection in the CZ, similar to the JSTOR Current Scholarship Program Complete electronic collection in the CZ?

  2. Need two CZ Selective Packages for 'Westlaw Thomson Reuters' database

    It would be useful to have two Selective Packages for the ‘Westlaw Thomson Reuters’ database. One Selective package for ‘International’ content, and another for ‘US’ content.

    At our library we provide a link to each of the two ‘sides’ of the database, as Article Title searches on each ‘side’ produce different results, depending on which ‘side’ the article is found. If an article is in the ‘US’ side, it can be found by an Article Title search on the ‘US’ side, but not on the ‘International’ side (and vice versa).     Please add the Naxos Music Library, which is a major online source of music recordings which will be of interest to most universities teaching music.

    It has quite complex metadata because it has CDs containing several pieces of music, each with several tracks, and it has links between different recordings of the same piece of music.     There is no All Oxford University Press eBooks collection.

    It would be very helpful to create this collection so that libraries developing collections via EBA programs can differentiate between subscribed-to vs. perpetually-owned content without having to individually create and manage local collections.

  15. E-Journal target for SFX: JSTOR_SUSTAINABILITY_JOURNALS

    We are proposing to create a new target for the JSTOR-collection "Sustainability Journals" with the name: JSTORSUSTAINABILITYJOURNALS

    The SFX target JSTORSUSTAINABILITYJOURNALSANDRESEARCH_REPORTS (4577 portfolios) exists already but cannot be activated when the journals-only collection is available at an institution.
    Therefore its necessary to have an Journals-only target in SFX as well.

    Can you contact the provider OVID, so that he can allow his version of FIAF to be added to the SFX KB?

  20. Add Perlego collections for the Knowledgebase (Alma CZ)

    Consider to add the Perlego collection to the CZ of Alma.

    The vendor provides an online library of academic resources with over 400,000 titles in several topics.

    Many international publishers are participate in the collection which can be very useful for academic institutions especially for textbooks.
