← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Improve the coverage of the Art & Architecture Complete (EBSCO) database

    Coverage of this database is currently poor. The 'search inside this journal' function in 360 does not work for it. Can the indexing for the database be improved?

  4. Please add a database type eCollection for "Birds of the World."

    "Birds of North America" by Cornell University is being replaced by "Birds of the World." It would be nice to have a CZ record for the database type eCollection.

  5. Add Ca’ Foscari University Press open access collection (digital journals and monograph series)

    Please consider adding the following open access collection to the CommunityZone:

    Edizioni Ca’ Foscari (ECF) publishes journals and monographic series in digital format in all areas of academic research. All publications are made available through the Internet with free and open access.
    All texts and research are published after an evaluation process carried out by the Scientific Committee, which will ensure their quality. They are then subjected to the Editorial Staff and are treated with the purpose of indexing in the major bibliographic online databases.

  6. Flag PCI/CDI Content That Appears on the Beall's List as "Potentially Predatory"

    We have noticed that certain content in the PCI/CDI overlaps with content listed on the Beall's List of Predatory Journals and Publishers (https://beallslist.net/). For example, all journals by Iris Publishers and Crimson Publishers that are indexed via CrossRef are indexed in the *** ALL CrossRef Collections *** and Rest of CrossRef collections not specified. However, discovering this information on our own is very time-consuming. Could Ex Libris systematically flag PCI/CDI content that appears on the Beall's List as "potentially predatory" so that institutions could more easily decide if they would like to include this content in their Primo…

  12. Add SPIE Digital Library Marc Records in CZ to enhance discovery

    SPIE Digital Library provides full-level Marc records for their ebooks, in addition to PCI data. These records are freely available and would enhance discovery of these titles.

    Please replace the current brief records with these enhanced records.

  14. NSTL Archive Journals Complete Collection

    We hope that there is a NSTLARCHIVECOMPLETE collection which combines all the NSTL archive collections currently in Alma and SFX KB. And we found that there is no NSTL Oxford archive journal title list, so can you also add it into the complete collection?

  19. Cambridge EBA - please add collection to CKB

    Please add a collection for Cambridge EBA titles. Not all titles are available for EBA, so currently the options are to not activate (certainly not ideal), activate the collection for all Cambridge e-books and live with having titles active to which we don't have access (leads to user frustration), or activating collection for all Cambridge e-books and then deactivating the titles to which we don't have access (we don't have the staff time for that.)
