← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.

    DIMENSIONS (dbid: DMMUA) was created for both 360 and SFX/ Alma.

    This change will be part of the 1st December Content Update ( 20234900 ) that will be released on December 3rd.

  2. Missing target "CONTENT_SELECT"

    Dear support

    Referring to the closed Salesforce cases 00117912 and 00055637 in which demand a target of the publisher "Preselect.media", I hereby kindly ask you to create a target "CONTENT_SELECT" (since it's more common to name it after the platform rather than the publisher). Can you do that, please?

  3. Missing SFX-target "CASALINI_TORROSSA_OPENACCESS"

    Dear support

    The titles in the attachment are open access titles of publisher Casalini which should therefore have an appropriate target attached to them. May I kindly ask you to create a target named " CASALINITORROSSAOPENACCESS" and attach it to the titles in the attachment?

  5. Index the Hathitrust content in PCI similarly to the way it is in Summon

    This request is not for a new collection but for optimizing the existing Hathitrust collection in PCI to behave similarly to the way it does in Summon.

    This search seemingly only has two hits for the journal coming from Hathi vs. the >200 for PCI. Not hard to imagine what is better for patrons?

    http://popups.ulg.ac.be) is an open access platform established by the University of Liege Library. It contains more than 5,500 scholarly articles (mostly in French and English) published in 20 OA journals by two Belgian universities. PoPuPS exists already as a target/collection/database in SFX, Alma and 360/Intota and as a collection in Primo Central Index.
    PoPuPS can be harvested in OAI-PMH. Please add PoPuPS as a new database in Summon.

  9. ORBi - Open Repository and Bibliography

    ORBi (Open Repository and Bibliography - http://orbi.ulg.ac.be) is the institutional repository of the University of Liege and was launched by the University Library in 2008. Currently, it contains more than 52,200 OA references of scholarly materials of all kinds (articles, book chapters, books, reports, dissertations, presentations...). ORBi has been harvested by Primo Central Index since March 2013 and by EBSCO Discovery Service since July 2016. Open Access contents of ORBi can be harvested in OAI-PMH. Please add ORBi as a new resource in Summon.

  12. please add: Emerald Transport eBook Collection to SFX KB

    content is listed here: http://www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/products/books/pdf/transport_%20ebooks.pdf

    Titles are at least partly listed in KB already but only as part of other targets (aggregators etc.).

    Emerald told us months ago that they delivered title data to you.

    With nearly 37,000 titles currently available in it, we would like to see records for ScienceDirect eBook database (HGY) indexed for discovery in Summon.

    Please add the Naxos Music Library, which is a major online source of music recordings which will be of interest to most universities teaching music.

    It has quite complex metadata because it has CDs containing several pieces of music, each with several tracks, and it has links between different recordings of the same piece of music. As the metadata they have is quite rich, it would be very good to see this exploited in Primo with child/parent linking and records for works as well as recordings.   20. E-Book Target for SFX. Several publishers via Preselect

    We are missing the SFX-Target for the e-book packages for the scholars-e-library from the publisher UTB https://www.utb.de/bibliotheken/. Although there is a target in SFX for another product from UTB utb-studi-e-book the portfolios from the scholars-e-library are missing in SFX.
    The publisher eventually informed us that they are not responsible for the delivery of metadata for this package and referred us to the service platform Preselect http://www.preselect.com/en. Preselect offers also an bunch of other packages from 36 publisher. The half of these affects licence contracts of our libraries which have also no target in SFX.
