← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  5. Combine content from separate Salem Press Online ebook collections under single platform, as no longer maintaining others.

    Salem Press Online should be the only Salem Press collection being updated with new content, as all the sub collections have been combined under the single interface for:
    Salem History/Salem Literature/Salem Health/Salem Science

  6. Add indexing in Primo Central to more Canadian scholarly content: eg Erudit

    Since we changed discovery from Summon to Primo - users are unable to find Canadian content without first signing in in order to gain access to the Web of Science and MLA international bibliography article citations. This is especially true for Canadian scholarly content that may not be published in commercial academic publishers. A good first addition would be Erudit - which, despite its name provides access to a wide range of Canadian English and French content.

  12. Add eLibro to Primo activation

    Please add eLibro to Primo for activation and discovery. This is part of the eBook Central Proquest Science & Technology collection but does not show up in Primo even though we have eBook Central activated in Alma. English titles show but not Spanish in the eLibro collecton.

    Hello,

    The following collections are already supported in our products:
    - Safari Business Books Online
    - Safari Tech Books Online

    We are currently working on the ingestion of the O’Reilly Safari Learning Platform as well.

    If there are any missing ProQuest collections, please kindly submit a Support Case rather than an Idea.

  18. Add to the Proquest Aquatic Science Journals Collection

    Proceedings from the 2010 AGU Ocean Sciences Meeting is part of the Proquest Aquatic Science Journals collection (which we have a local subscription to).

    However, there's no portfolio for this journal in the CZ, so Primo isn't indexing this correctly.

    I'd like for this journal to be added to the CZ collection.

  19. Add Sage Premier 2018 and Sage Deep Backfile Upgrade 2018 packages

    Please add these packages ASAP. We'd like to see these new title packages at the beginning of a new calendar year. As it is, we either need to take the time to create a local package or we leave our users without accurate holding info. This is not the time-saving we're supposed to realize with the Alma CZ.

  20. Index results from DataCite search

    Open Data is a new field of emerging research sources. As at the DataCite seach website (https://search.datacite.org ) we can seek datasets on varied subjects, or by entering a DOI such as 10.18170/DVN/45LCSO to locate a specific dataset. Also does Google have the right results.

    Summon doesn't index these results for now. I sugget Summon do it, or users would know them by reading the very articles citing the datasets.
