Add NFC support to ID Card, Wallet
Our student ID cards have RFID chips in them so that users can tap into door locks, turnstiles, dining, etc.
Can you explore NFC capabilities in the mobile app, similar to how hotels are doing keyless checkin with their apps?
Ideally, an iOS user could open the Student ID PI, see the Apple "Add To Wallet" icon, and use the NFC to tap into places.
While we understand the need for this feature, we've decided not to pursue its implementation at this time. Adding RFID to an app necessitates additional security requirement from Apple and Google - which would complicate the app submission process.

As we make decisions about whether we will activate the online ID option in the Mobile App, I see after doing some preliminary research that RFID technology is available for other apps, such as CBORD's Get Mobile Platform, used by many colleges and universities, which incorporates online ID solutions. I hope Ex Libris is working on incorporating RFID technology into Ex Libris Library Mobile. I see currently it appears that only barcode and QR code scanning is possible. Since we are now incorporating RFID scanners at the Circulation Desk, it would be of interest to us to know if Library Mobile will likely be moving to include this scanning capability.

This feature is critical for student experience and to reduce cost of providing physical student cards. Including this in the 2026 roadmap will prevent us needing to promote multiple mobile applications for students.

Dear All,
This feature is crucial for the students to open doors when entering the campus and classrooms or when using vending machines or photocopiers.
Please consider implementing.
Best regards,
Fabio -

I think this will become really important to our students moving forward. We are still in the dark ages regarding our card and access infrastructure but our security services team are going to go out to tender soon. A student will need to gain access to buildings and rooms using their digital wallets really soon and the app will be the natural home for this to happen. Thanks
