Dear Rosetta Product Team,

At the National Library of Israel, we intend to update DC (Descriptive Metadata) values via the Rosetta API.
The update process works successfully for the Preservation Master, but when attempting to update the Derivative Copy, the request fails with a “Not In Permanent” exception.

As confirmed by Rosetta Support, this behavior is currently expected because the updateMD SOAP API method does not support entities stored in the Operational Repository (including Derivative Copy representation files).

We would like to request an enhancement to allow updates of DC values for Derivative Copy representations via API, similar to what is already possible for Preservation Master files.
This capability is important for our workflows, as it would enable us to keep derivative files’ metadata in sync with preservation copies efficiently and programmatically.

We kindly ask you to consider this request with urgency, as it affects ongoing projects and operational efficiency at our institution.
