call number sort in "Generate accession number" drop down menu
The call numbers are mandatory in all our items and holdings. Somes of call numbers are more used than other.
For example the call number RIA is used oftentimes while the call number DSA is littled used. Though, currently, RIA are at the end of the menu wheras DSA is at the top.
Authorizing sorted the call number would dramatically reduced search time in the long drop down menu (Tools > MARC Bibliographic > Generates accession number) and make easier the job of our librarians.1 voteHello All,

It would be helpful to have small checkboxes in the holdings records next to each line item
It would be helpful to be able to delete or move multiple line items in a holdings record at the same time as we are able to do in the inventory records. A line at a time is very time consuming when we transfer large numbers of items from one library to another.

Add Material Type column to Item List
It would be great if we could see the item Material Type when we are in the Items List.
Can we add an item Material Type column? If people don't want to see it they can eliminate from view.
This is especially helpful when there are multiple item material types with the same call number, location, and no Description. If we had a Material Type column we could tell right away which item was which material type.

Metadata clean up
It would be great to alter the material type of items whilst they item is still on loan, so that an item with a material type of "none" could become a book.

Leave Library and Location blank using Browse Shelf Listing within the Metadata Editor
The August update allows Alma to limit Browse Shelf Listing to specific Libraries and Locations. This is fine when it is wanted; on the other hand, using Browse Shelf Listing directly from a holdings record (i.e. Alt+C in the Metadata Editor) defaults to limiting the search to the library and location in the holdings record (i.e. the 852 subfields $b and $c). I prefer the Library and Location fields remain blank (as they do when opening Browse Shelf Listing from the Resources tab) unless the user chooses to set limits.

Creation Date should be displayed in the Item Record
Please add the item record's Creation Date to the fields displayed in the item record. An appropriate location would be the History tab. It is currently possible to find the creation date only through Alma Analytics. While the Receipt Date can be a clue to the item's date of creation, the dates are not necessarily the same. Furthermore, the Receipt Date is populated automatically only when receiving an item through Acquisitions, and inputting the date manually when creating an item in the Metadata Editor is an extra step which can be overlooked and may not be applicable (or justified by…

Limit physical holding by year in the getit frame
Using the Primo service page, when we have print holdings for a journal the requested article is from, but not for the article date, we still see print holdings which are not related and confusing to our users.
I would expect to either not see the print holdings or have it be clear that these are not for the requested item (like having to click "more" to see them).

Change Holdings area to match Items
Editing Holdings requires knowing all of the codes for your institution's locations and libraries. If the Holdings area were more like the Items area then the choices for locations and libraries would be on pull down menus. A History tab similar to the one on the Items screen would also be helpful.

Tools/Excel results need to include holdings ID(s) and item ID(s).
The ability of Alma to export search results to an Excel spreadsheet is one of its strong features. In order to remove the necessity of still having to run an Analytics report, all such Excel spreadsheets need to include the holdings ID(s), holdings permanent location(s), and item ID(s), in order to present a clear and full picture of the extent of the holdings of a given title. Option to change item policy in batch
User can have the option to select all the items under a holding record and change the item policy batch for them all at once.

Run a "change temporary location indications" job
This functionnality is currently available only with the "change physical item" that allows change for all item indications. Such a new job would help all librarians to change temporary locations for a set of documents avoiding the risk of errors in other item fields. With that new option, it would be possible to keep the "change physical item" job only available to ILS manager and let all librarians run the "change temporary location indications"

Better clarity of which holding an item belongs to.
We would like the item details page to include the holding ID number, or the holdings page to include the item barcodes. Or some other solution to this confusion. When we migrated to Alma, a number of records were created with multiple identical holdings, one for each item. This causes confusion when we want to move items between holdings as there is no way of knowing which item is connected to which holding – the order they appear on the page is not the same for items & holdings.

Allow retention of original holdings record when the last item is moved to a different holdings record
As a user who is changing locations in item records, I would like the ability to retain the original holdings record when the last item gets moved to a different holdings record.

Alternative way to withdraw items from ALMA
It would be useful to have a withdraw items button displayed when a library needs to withdraw items from its collection. When viewing items from the search results page, instead of clicking Actions and choosing withdraw item from the drop down menu - can we have a button next to the existing move items button for a quick withdrawal of items.

Standardize item record navigation
Currently when navigating the list of items the position of the numbers and arrows changes position depending on how deep you are in the records. For instance when you go from the first page to the second page the arrow will jump to the left due to the records being displayed adding another digit. This happens again when you hit three digits in the record display. Physical Item Editor - activate Confirm button upon Save action
In the Physical Item Editor, upon Clicking the Save button, please automatically activate as default the "Confirm" button in the Confirmation Message pop-up window.
In the same way that all other Confirmation Message pop-up windows already have the Confirm button activated, so all you have to do is hit the enter key to select it. (Instead of having to make another click on the Confirm button.) This would help improve efficiency.2 votesHello All,

Should be able to fill in all fields in item records by typing.
Currently, location fields in item records can only be filled in by choosing from a menu. It would be helpful if it were also possible to simply type in the location when it is known. That way the change from one temporary location to another could be done by a macro, which would save a LOT of time when processing a cart of books with the same location change.
