  1. Add option to Print bib record from MDE

We find it useful to have a printed bib record to reference on paper for various purposes, but Alma lacks the means to "Print" a bib record in the MDE. It would be extremely helpful to add Alma's print functionality as a button in the MDE menu options so that we can print specific records on physical sheets, as PDFs, etc.

  2. Select records to release from Records tab (left pane of Metadata Editor)

On the Records tab in the left pane of the Metadata Editor there should be a way to select some of the records and then release them I use that tab for my work in progress and go through it weekly or when I finish a project to release the records I'm done with. Currently, I have to do that one record at a time because it's rare that I would want to release all the records and the only for releasing records are one at a time or all of them.

At present, bib record record pushed into MDE are not selected or opened in MDE. We want to make the record that is most recently pushed into MDE as the selected or opened record in MDE for streamline the workflow and improve productivity. If this requirement is not common, please think about making it configurable via a Customer Parameter.

  5. Add 689 Field in the Browsing Names (without MARC21 600/610/611) and Subjects (with MARC21 600/610/611)

Browsing Names (without MARC21 600/610/611) and Subjects (with MARC21 600/610/611) are currently not supported for 689 fields.
But as Alma provides support for German MARC cataloging with the 689 field, we ask for this field to be supported in the new index
The headings links are based on how the 689 field maps to the standard 6XX field. The mapping is identified as follows:
    689 $D p is synonymous with 600
    689 $D b is synonymous with 610
    689 $D f is synonymous with 611
    689 $D s is synonymous with 650
    689 $D g is synonymous with 651

  6. Unmerged Cells in Exported Lost/Missing List

I would like it if cells weren't merged when they're exported. Whenever I unmerge cells to sort my library's lost/missing list by call number, I always end up with about 30-40 items at the end whose titles and call numbers disappeared. I then have to individually search these for items in Alma by barcode and manually fill this information in, and resort the list. It would save about an hour or two of my time each month if duplicate entries weren't merged that way.

In the old MD Editor, shortcut keys Alt+F, Alt+E and Alt+T are for expanding the drop-down lists of File, Edit and Tools respectively. They are very important shortcut keys in the the AutoHotKey/Macro scripts. But there are no such shortcut keys in the new MD Editor.

  9. Stop bib page from jumping

When editing different fields within a bib record, the page inexplicably jumps and scrolls, causing catalogers to lose their place or mistype. This seems to be especially true at the bottom of longer records, when it will auto-scroll towards the top when the cataloger is still trying to edit fields near the end of the record. Please allow for the page to be stationary unless catalogers physically scroll the page.

  10. Improve "MMS – build record relations" job to allow matching on CZ ISBN-10s

I may be incorrect on this, but I believe that the "MMS – build record relations" often fails to "relate" lower-quality community zone records to local records where we'd expect it to. I wonder if this might be due to the CZ records concerned having only ISBN-10s (formatted with dashes), whilst the local records have ISBN-13s.

Whilst it would obviously be ideal to improve the CZ metadata, I know this is part of a larger, incremental project. In the meantime, if I am right about the matching issue, would it be possible to tweak the job parameters to allow matching…

  12. Include games and models as Resource Types

In accordance with the MARC21 Format for Bibliographic Data, when LDR pos. 06 = r (for "three-dimensional artifact"), we're supposed to follow the "Visual materials" definition of 008, described at https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd008v.html.

  13. Add MARC labels to simple Record View and MDE

Both the simple Record View and the MDE lack MARC labels when viewing or editing bibliographic records; they only display the actual MARC numbers and their field contents. Having labels on the side of the numbers with names corresponding to OCLC standards and/or local labels would make it easier for catalogers to quickly find specific fields.

In the MDE, there is an option under "Record actions" where a user can release all records of another user. When selected, all Alma users are listed and anyone with a Cataloger role can release all records that are in use by any Alma user. We would like to see this being customizable, to ensure that a user doesn't inadvertently release all records for another user as these records could be still being reviewed, needing to be worked on, etc.

  17. ability to customize xsl to better display creator names

We would like to customize our display so that our imported data in Alma-D can include commas between the first and last name of creators, and possibly other styling. Currently our creators display as "David Paul Photographer" when we'd rather they displayed as "David, Paul (Photographer)" which is what we had in our old, Islandora, system. Apparently we need to be able to customize XSL to do this.

On several occasions, people have edited our local templates to catalogue a book instead of copying the template and using it as a template. It would be great if we could restrict the ability to edit local templates (to Catalog Administrator, perhaps?).
