  1. Improve Booleian searching in repository by including 'not' option

Currently there is no option to use a 'not' function in a repository search, there is only 'and' & 'or'. The ability to exclude certain records from a search is vital to enable correct records to be isolated for editing/updating. Not having the 'not' option makes it very difficult to narrow down results.

In addition to our Product Manager Moshe Shechter’s comments on this idea of a few months back, we would like to add the following:
Alma’s search indexes have been designed and built to provide a whole new set of possibilities for searching for inventory based on the full set of bibliographic details and indexes. As a result of this combined enriched bibliographic and inventory search index, certain queries which retrieve the bibliographic titles but also use inventory indexes, can lead to non-intuitive results when used in conjunction with NOT operations. An example of this is the search for titles that don’t have items in library A. If a title has items in library B and in library A, it will still be retrieved. This is a correct result as there is an item that matched the search query, but it is not intuitive to the staff user.

    Ex Libris will…

  2. Add fields for Title of unit and other descriptors to the Item Record OR add radial buttons to Item record and description templates

Currently, there is no good way to use the “Generate” button in the item record to create descriptions for supplements and indexes. In the interest of consistency, we intentionally do NOT enter the descriptions manually, which greatly improves searching and sorting of serials.
While it is possible to have supplements and indexes list separately by creating separate records and adding the $o (unit title) to field 864 (supplements) or 865 (indexes), the holdings list does not display the unit title, so there is no visual difference between the two holdings. An 863 holding for “Aperture” and an 864 holding for…

  3. catalog set

The current limit of 30 titles that can be pushed to 'catalog as a set' is too low.

It would be useful if this limit was raised to at least 50 or could be set at an institute level.

  4. Add Filtering Group to Local 9xx fields so they can be searched by keyword in Alma Repository

It's great that institutions can add their own local 9xx fields but staff have to remember to search by the specific field tag. We would like the ability to assign our 9xx tags to general search indexes.

  5. Add facet for publication year for Electronic Titles results list

When you do an All Titles search or a Physical Titles search in Alma, you get filters for Material Type, Language, and Publication Year, but when you do an Electronic Titles search, you only get filters for Material Type and Language. We very much need all the same functionality for searching electronic titles as we do for print. Please support electronic resources the same way as print.

  6. Ability to add html code/img files to the GES Public Name Field

I would like the ability to add html code/img files to the GES Public Name Field. Either that or a separate field for adding an icon. I think this would help us "brand" the services we offer through these links.

  7. The 245 field should display in repository search results, even if there is no 245$a

Title displays as “unknown” in repository search when field 245 lacks $a.
While field 245 is mandatory in a record, subfield |a of this field is not. In some types of cataloging, particularly for manuscripts, other subfields are used and $a is not present. For example, $k for Form and $f for Dates can be used without subfield $a: 245 __ $k Papers, $f 1929-1980.
245$k and 245$f are particularly important to those using DACS (Describing Archives: A Content Standard) for cataloging archival materials.
In repository search, Alma displays “Unknown” in place of the title when 245 |a is lacking.…

  9. Add a post-import normalization process option to Import Profile configuration

Currently, Import Profiles contain a single selection for normalization (Correct the data using). This enhancement would clarify that this process operates on incoming records only pre-load, and would add the ability to select a second normalization process after records are fully loaded and merged.

  10. Add ability to see name associated with user ID in MD Editor

User IDs are visible in MD Editor for "Created by" and "Modified by", but unlike other pages, there is no way to quickly see the name associated with that ID. Currently, one must leave the record and search the Users index for that number to get the person's name.

There should be a clickable icon like you see on the Monitor Jobs screen that shows you the name associated with the ID.

  11. More sophisticated functionality in the Duplicate Title Analysis function

The Duplicate Title Analysis functionality does not allow you to clear previous duplicates when you run a new job.

For example, you may run a job to find duplicate titles. You investigate those titles and decide that they are not problems for your library, so you wish to leave those titles in Alma, but you don't want them to come up on the next Duplicate Analysis title job.

When I click "view inventory" in Metadata Editor, if there are print holdings and electronic portfolios connected with the bib, the default inventory show the electronic portfolios.

I think the deault inventory showed should be holdings. Because we seldom edit portfolios in metadata editory.

On the classic UI, when a staff member clicked on Add Members in a set they used to get a separate set of search boxes - with the "Find" box offering the choice of just one thing, e.g. Physical Items - into which to add the barcode or whatever else of the item they wanted. 16. Display edition statement in any brief results list

Results of an All Titles search include the edition statement in the brief display, but Physical Titles and Physical Items results do not. We often have multiple editions of a title, and while the date shows which is the most recent, if we have slight date variances that make the date useless we need to be able to see the edition statement in order to choose the right record to view.

  17. Package level order info required in Repository Search > Other details

It would be helpful if, when clicking on the Other details link on a particular Repository Search result title which shows no order information, it would indicate whether there was a related order at package level.

If we want to know whether we are entitled to the access, it may look at first as if we aren't because there's no order attached. However, the order may be at package level.

We are relaxed about the wording and place of that indication within the Other details balloon - maybe something like "Package Level Order" underneath "Requests/Work orders"?
