    agreed. maybe default can be dd/mm/yyyy and each institution can decide to add an optional RapidILL/ALMA date converter for internal use eg Americans and.... Canadians? Also I just learnt that Japan uses yyyy/mm/dd so maybe they also want a converter for their internal use?
