  1. Patron wants to receive particular material type through Rapido

    Patrons select sometimes a particular material type, e.g. an audio book in our Primo VE. With Rapido, if patrons request their preferred media, e.g. the audio book of a title, the Rapido lending request is sometimes placed on a different material type, e.g. a physical book. This is not what patrons expect.

    The lending library cannot not know which format the patron wants, and therefore sends a wrong document to the pickup library.

    This happens when there are separate bibliographic records per material type in the Primo VE search result. However, in the Global Title Index (GTI), the material type…

    We have planned a development that will allow libraries to run mediation rules based on if there is a change in material type. Resources sharing staff will be able review requests that trigger this mediation rule. If this solution does not align with the idea submission, please provide further details for review. 

  2. Make requests in status “expired” act like any other request with the same list of actions

    Requests that have ended up with the status and “expired” end up in the “closed” sets, but we still need to work with them. We don’t want the request to be cancelled and the patron to be notified automatically because there still might be something we can do with them. We might find an additional email partner to send one of these requests to that the system doesn’t know about, we might find a better ISBN or OCLC number to send it out on, or we might find that the request is the wrong type and we need to change…
