← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Add indexing in Primo Central to more Canadian scholarly content: eg Erudit

    Since we changed discovery from Summon to Primo - users are unable to find Canadian content without first signing in in order to gain access to the Web of Science and MLA international bibliography article citations. This is especially true for Canadian scholarly content that may not be published in commercial academic publishers. A good first addition would be Erudit - which, despite its name provides access to a wide range of Canadian English and French content.

  2. Wiley Major Reference Works

    It seems that all SFX portfolios belonging to the target WILEYONLINEMAJORREFERENCEWORKS are missing from PCI. We are subscribed to seven encyclopedias in this category, and they are not searchable through our Primo instance.
    We already asked to the customer center and Ex-Libris suggested to enter a request here.

    There are already targets for some of the other McGraw Hill Access... collections, but not for Neurology.

  10. Target/Collection: Geological Society of America

    The Geological Society of America content has moved from HighWire Press to GeoScienceWorld. Currently, the GSA content is available through the Highwire Press Geological Society of America collection, but links from this collection are re-directing to the GeoScienceWorld site, with mixed results.

    Please create a new 'GeoScienceWorld Geological Society of America' collection and set up portfolios linking the GSA content to the GeoScienceWorld platform. For example, the Geological Society of America Bulletin (ISSN: 0016-7606) should now link to the following URL: https://pubs.geoscienceworld.org/gsabulletin/
