← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing

    Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing Database added new material type: videos.
    There are currently 2 collections in CZ:

  5. Enrich metadata records for British Online Archives

    We noticed that the level of metadata for portfolios in the British Online Archives (collection ID: 6114047950000041) is incredibly sparse. Would it be possible to investigate and update the MARC records for these portfolios (which represent collections on the British Online Archives platform)? BOA provides MARC records for customers here & on OCLC: https://microform.digital/boa/librarian-resources.

    We would prefer to not have to locally improve the metadata for portfolios in this collection.

  9. Emerald's "eJournal Backfiles Premier" - create an Alma CZ collection for this vendor's collection

    Hello,

    We would like to suggest you add the following Emerald backfiles collection to Alma.

    "eJournal Backfiles Premier"

    This is a specific backfiles collection with 265 titles and there currently isn’t one available in the CZ.

    This means that we’ve had to activate more than one Emerald collection to cover the titles, which isn't ideal.

    This change will be part of the 1st November Content Update ( 20234500 ) that will be released on November 5th
    Please note that it may take a few days until this change is reflected in your Institution Zone.

  13. Add Oxford Scholarship Online 2023 collection

    Oxford has KBART lists for their whole Oxford Scholarship Online collection at their website. https://global.oup.com/academic/librarians/manage/kbart-files/?cc=us&lang=en&#ox_schol_onli

    There are currently only subject-specific 2023 annual collections in the 360 knowledgebase, but none for the full Oxford Scholarship Online 2023 collection. Both are necessary, as libraries may purchase one subject, or all of them.

    There is a Springer Nature Computer Science (RO) eBooks 2008 English/International but no Springer Computer Science eBooks 2008 English/International, which includes the Reference ebooks. There is also a SpringerLink Books Computer Science without Lecture Notes 2008 but no one collection that has our entitlements.

    The Times Educational Archive is still having some linking issues, but we are actively working to fix that.

    If needed, please open a support case to configure the linking locally until we can resolve this issue.

    Hello!

    Could we please have a collection added for the latest in Brill's "Companions to Classical Studies" added to the KB? I had previously opened a support case with this request but have not received any updates since March. The collection is described here: https://brill.com/display/package/9789004512207. The previous collections in this series--I-V--are already available in the KB, so we just need the latest one added.
