← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Add Thoth Open Access collection as a Community Zone

    This is a request to add the collection of Diamond OA publications in Thoth (http://www.thoth.pub/) as a Community Zone collection.

    Thoth contains a steadily growing collection of OA publications from scholar-led publishers such as punctum books, Open Book Publishers, meson press, mediastudies.press, and African Minds, and we have been working with UC Santa Barbara Library to make it more accessible to libraries worldwide.

    Creating a dedicated Community Zone would substantially increase access to these OA publishers.

  3. Add WIT Press eLibrary

    Hello,

    Please consider contacting WIT Press in order to add the WIT Press eLibrary to the Alma CZ and CDI for indexing.

    The WIT Press eLibrary is a fully open access collection of scholarly content on sustainable engineering and environmental engineering.

    It contains journals and transactions that are all registered with CrossRef (meaning that they have DOIs).

    The transactions are monograph series (have both ISSNs and ISBNs).

  4. Ball State University Open Journals

    The Ball State University Libraries publish nine Open Access journals covering a range of disciplines, including biological sciences, humanities, education, social work, counseling psychology, literature, and philosophy. We recommend these for inclusion in all ExLibris discovery platforms (Summon, Primo) and knowledge bases (360/Intota, Alma, SFX).

    The journals include well-established titles such as Teaching History and The Journal for Social Action in Counseling & Psychology, as well as new titles such as The Journal of Special Education Preparation and Sport Social Work, launched in 2022.

    Bookport is one of the most important sources of Czech e-books (mostly) for libraries across all types and collections.
    The content can be used by municipal, school, university, scientific or national libraries.
    Please add and index this database to Primo Central, SFX KB and Alma CZ. Thanks.

  7. Add Homosaurus to Alma Authority Vocabularies

    We would like to suggest adding Homosaurus, an international LGBTQ+ linked data vocabulary to the authority vocabularies in the resource management configuration. The vocabulary is available at https://homosaurus.org/

    Homosaurus has received a lot of traction in the past few years as alternative to LCSH for describing resources about the LGBTQ+ community. We add the terms at present in a 650 _7 $a heading $2 homoit.

    Adding Homosaurus to the authority vocabularies would help greatly in on-going authority control, rather than managing locally.

  9. Editorial Tirant lo Blanch

    Editorial Tirant lo Blanch (https://editorial.tirant.com/es) is one of the main Law content providers in Spanish. The majority of the academic institutions are their customer.

    They produced databases, journals and books, and host them in their platforms (called Tirant Online, Biblioteca Tirant and Nube de Lectura). It would be very interesting to be able to index their contents.

    Adding their resources in the CDI would be very beneficial for all academic institutions studying Spanish Law.

    Could you add in the CZ of Alma the free database Italinemo (url https://www.italinemo.it/) This gateway analyses, catalogues and indexes journals on Italian studies, published worldwide. Each record comes with an abstract. Search is possible by author, title, key word, journal title etc.

    INTERNET_ARCHIVE_SCHOLARS (dbid: IEEBU) was created for both 360 and SFX/ Alma.

    This change will be part of the 1st December Content Update ( 20234900 ) that will be released on December 3rd.

  13. NERS 2021 - Pressbooks Directory

    The Pressbooks Directory (https://pressbooks.directory/) indexes over 2000 open access books created by educational institutions. As many of these are not indexed separately, it would be great if the contents of the directory could be included in the Alma Community Zone and/or the Central Discovery Index.
