← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Hello,

    Thank you for your contribution!
    This collection is currently available under the collection name “HeinOnline Criminal Justice in America: U.S. Attorney General Opinions, Reports, and Publications”.
    We have plans to update the collection name following confirmation from HeinOnline that indeed this is the same collection that needs only to be renamed.

    Until the name is changed, you can still activate this collection and the name change will be reflected as soon as it is made.

  2. Add proquest dissertation and thesis as a collection

    Expand the usage of proquest dissertaion and thesis as a collection so it´s visible in other databases aswell.

    Hello,

    The ProQuest Dissertations and Theses content is fully represented in our Central Discovery Index.
    With millions of titles, this scale of content cannot be sustained on the KB level and is best served in this format, as activation is required only on the collection level.

  5. Make proquest dissertation and thesis availible as a collection

    I would prefer if proquest dissertaion and thesis was a collection. Then you would be able to access it from other plattforms as well

    The ProQuest Dissertations and Theses collection is available as a Database (a collection without titles) and the coverage is fully supported by the content being indexed in the CDI.
    Given that there are millions of titles in this collection it is best supported in this method.

    We just purchased access to EBSCO's Frick Art Reference Library Periodicals Index and I can't find a target or an object for the database.     Could you please create a new target, MOHR SIEBECK MAX WEBER EBOOK GESAMTAUSGABE in SFX and add all the objects from the attachement.

    The Max Weber-Gesamtausgabe contains Max Weber's published and previously unpublished texts with the exception of his excerpts, marginalia or editorial comments on the texts of others. Reports written by others on Weber's speeches, his contributions to discussions and his lectures have only been included if there are no accounts of these by the author himself.     The addition of individual portfolios can be done directly in the Alma CZ by your institution via the contribution mechanism.

  12. Create an Ebook Central Academic Complete specific to North America

    Currently the Ebook Central Academic Complete collection contains contains all titles in the collection regardless of territory restrictions set by the publishers. There are 318 titles which cannot be used in the United States. This is a lot of editing for libraries in the US with this collection. Some other geographic areas have their own collections. Create one for North America or the United States, depending on the geographic restrictions by publishers. If Canada and the United States of America have different restrictions, please separate.

    Currently the ProQuest EBook Central offerings do not include a North America specific collection that we can represent in the Alma CZ.
    We suggest that you consider utilizing the Upload Electronic Holdings feature in Alma which will automatically manage and maintain all of your Ebook Central holdings based on your acquisitions directly from ProQuest including representation of territorial rights. This will ensure that you are automatically activating only the titles available for your institution, for all of your Ebook Central content.

    For more information on this see our Knowledge Center documentation. Search for “Upload Electronic Holdings from ProQuest Ebook Central” under the Alma product.

    We would also like to kindly remind that any requests for ProQuest content do not need to go through the Idea Exchange platform. You can simply submit a Support Case for these requests.

    We have access to the following 6 JoVE Science Education modules, but because there are no corresponding ALMA electronic collections we cannot activate them and make them available to our users:
    JoVE Science Education: Aeronautical Engineering;
    JoVE Science Education: Core: Biology;
    JoVE Science Education:Core:Psychology;
    JoVE Science Education: Lab Bio;
    JoVE Science Education: Immunology;
    JoVE Science Education: Microbiology;

    These modules were made available on JoVE at the start of 2020 but there is still no corresponding collections available in ALMA CZ.

  19. IEEE Xplore eBook frontlist collections

    We would like to request that new collections be added to knowledgebases for the IEEE Xplore interface.

    IEEE Xplore offers KBART compliant listings for collection sets: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/Xplorehelp/administrators-and-librarians/title-lists#kbart-phase-ii-compliant-title-lists.

    In particular, we are seeking the addition of the ebook Collections such as IEEE-Wiley and IEEE-MIT Press.

    We currently support an array of "IEEE-Wiley" and "IEEE-MIT" collections, and work closely with IEEE to ensure that we have full representation of their content.

  20. Improve the coverage of the Art & Architecture Complete (EBSCO) database

    Coverage of this database is currently poor. The 'search inside this journal' function in 360 does not work for it. Can the indexing for the database be improved?
