← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Alma Community Zone collection for Brepols open access ebooks

    Brepols Publishing publishes open access ebooks and I am interested in making them discoverable via Primo VE. Alma’s Community Zone does not have a distinct collection for this content.     Creating a Brepols Open Access ebooks Community Zone collection would help to facilitate discovery of these resources.

  2. Please add Cell Press Collection in CZ

    Cell Press titles are available in a number of Elsevier collections, but there is no collection that points to the Cell Press page for Cell Press titles.

    Add Springer's "Synthesis Collection of Technology" collection 12 to the Community Zone (the first 11 Springer "Collection of Technology" collections are already in the CZ). These collections were previously published by Morgan and Claypool as the Synthesis Digital Library.

  7. Gale Corvey collection to be added to Alma?

    Can the Gale Corvey collection be added please? Gale indicated that they were making the marc records available for discovery layers, but there is no collection in Alma with the portolios added (except a GNL one)

  14. Add the Oregonian newspaper to Primo Central Index

    We suggest ingesting article-level content from the Oregonian newspaper to Central Discovery Index (CDI), so that users can search and discover all the subscribed content with one interface. We have historical and current content from the Oregonian, but access to full text articles is limited via the Newspapers Search interface.

    It is important to ensure content is available to our users via the discovery systems as this is one of our most used newspapers, focusing on Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.

    Please can the CZ MARC records for the various Lyell Collections be improved? The lack of detail makes them very hard to discover in Primo.

    EBSCOhost Communication Source (collection ID 613820000000000035) is currently indexed at title-level. Can it please be considered for full article-level indexing?

    It is primarily an undergrad resource and so needs to be searchable within Discovery.

    EBSCOhost Communication Source is indexed in CDI using other resources because we cannot obtain discovery level feeds from Ebsco.

    Our current coverage rate is 99% of this collection in CDI.

  20. Better Metadata for HANSER_ELIBRARY_BOOKS

    The bib records in the electronic collection Hanser Elibrary Books are very poor and sometimes even wrong.
