Make page range fields obligatory for book chapters and book extracts
The total number of pages on a list is retrieved from the page range fields for book chapters and book extracts, when these fields are filled out. If they are not, the book's total number of pages is used in the calculation.
It is not likely that this field is going to be relevant when choosing these material types so it should not be used in the calculation.
As of today it is possible to look up a book, change it to book chapter, and save it as is, without having changed the page number at all. This causes the total number of pages on the list to be wrong, and it's a lot of work to identify which citations are the source of the error later on.
Page range should be obligatory fields when choosing book chapter or book extract (1st page range only). An alternative would be to have a pop-up window when the fields are not filled out and warn of the consequences on the total number of pages for the list.
