← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. lived places publishing

    Hello,
    I previously submitted a request for this provider to be loaded into the community zone (case 06660914), but it was closed due to no timeline being reached.     Hello,

    We added a zero-title database to the knowledgebases

    AMNESTY_INTERNATIONAL_REPORTS (dbid: ANSVJ), collection ID 615400000000000620.

    The provider was not responsive so we are unable to create a collection with titles or a CDI package.

  9. Projectr Edu

    Please add Projectr Edu collection(s) to the knowledge bases as well as MARC records for the titles. Projectr Edu is a streaming video platform for libraries from Grasshopper Films. It contains close to 1,000 films. They're adding new titles very frequently so it would need to be updated regularly.   12. Add Cassyni (https://cassyni.com) which makes academic seminars openly available to CDI

    An academic at Imperial College London has co-founded a platform called Cassyni (https://cassyni.com) which makes academic seminars openly available. It'd be very useful if the platform is added to CDI so that individual seminars regarding many journals from major publishers can be discoverable in Primo. To give you some idea what Cassyni is like I posted some links below.

    It has partnered with various publishers including Elsevier, Cambridge University Press, Springer Nature and Royal Society to run seminar series for journals e.g.:

  20. Add Lived Places Publishing ebook collection to Community Zone

    We have recently purchased the ebook frontlist from a new publisher, Lived Places Publishing. So that we can quickly provide access to these books, we want them to be loaded into Alma's Community Zone. The publisher has begun this process with Ex Libris but I would like to express interest in seeing this collection be expedited.
