I am currently looking at configuring reading list citation statuses/the reading list review process to best fit our workflows for a small team with a large volume of lists. We find that academic staff rarely submit their lists for review so we have a lot of citations sitting in 'being prepared' and lists with completed citations still showing as 'being prepared' when they shouldn't be. Library staff begin work on these 'being prepared' citations as though they are 'ready for processing' regardless of whether the list has been submitted for review by academic staff due to the volume of citations we need to get through. This 'being prepared' list and citation status is not really helpful for our workflows. Ideally we would like all lists to be sent for review automatically whenever a new citation is added or an existing citation is updated. The only option for this in the new UI means that lists will be published at the same time, which is currently done by the library and we wouldn't want to change this. My suggestion is to have an additional option to automatically send new/updated citations for review so that these appear under 'ready for processing' instead of 'being prepared' without publishing the resource list.
